The most moving moment of Obama's speech -- and of the unexpectedly raucous memorial service -- was the President's announcement that shortly before the event, while surrounded by some of her House colleagues, Rep. Gabby Giffords opened her eyes for the first time since the shooting.

4. What a speech!
Standing ovation after standing ovation, and an oratory that deserved it. I hope Gaby gets to hear it soon.

Along with the intern who saved Gaby's life with his first aid training (and guts to deliver it while
Loughner was still firing), Obama and former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano received by far the
biggest cheering from the crowd, although I was disappointed that Napolitano had nothing better to
offer than to read from a religious text.

I was also extremely pleased that Obama chose to honor the other victims of the shooting--Gaby would
have wanted that. Mark was looking so forlorn, I hope the united voices of encouragement gave him hope.

5. I may and do have some issues with President Obama
but, my God, his wife just rocks. She was there for Mark, not for us. Just as it should be.
