"A Citizens United conspiracy, complete with two Supremes"

OCTOBER 22, 2010

The New York Times is reported that the billionaire Koch Brothers (pronounced like the soft drink) regularly convene secret conclaves of industrialists aiming to prevent government from regulating business. That wouldn’t be unusual, or even unexpected. But the attendees also include two Supreme Court justices, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, and three news agencies who never report on the meetings.

1. Is anything going to come of this? Or is going to be just another one of those things that we know
is wrong, but "Oh well".

In light of what happened to Charlie Rangel, I am just as upset about Thomas cheating on his taxes.

3. in the case of thomas -- it only reconfirms that we are no longer a nation of laws --
in the case of both men -- the law is no longer impartial.

6. The MSM gerbils will give scant coverage on this.
But they've given continuous coverage on red-herrings like Obama's birth certificate and Clinton's blow jobs.

Thomas' failure to disclose his wife's income from a RW think tank, coupled with his and Scalia's involvement with partisan groups behind closed doors raise HUGE questions on their ability to issue rulings in a fair and unbiased manner.

7. They have become so blatant
about breaking the rules and the law. It is very obvious that they ARE ABOVE THE LAW.

8. A conservative justice discusses things in a "SIMPLISTIC" manner.

Wow! I can believe that. That tops the best of the Bushisms.

I think it is a violation of the separation of powers established in the Constitution for a Supreme Court Justice to speak to members of Congress at the beginning of a term about the constitutional aspects of laws that the Congress may be considering now and that the Supreme Court could be considering later. That is way out of bounds. What is the point in separation of powers if a member of the Supreme Court tells members of Congress what he thinks on legislative issues before the legislation is even written. Wow! Why even keep up the pretense of the separation of powers.

Some of the members of today's Supreme Court are really doozies. They are so political, so biased that I have to question whether they really consider the issues before them with any independence of thought at all.
