Cenk Uygur explains why U.S. funding (or lack thereof) could make all the difference in the outcome to the situation in Egypt.

1. Spot on again.
Love me some Cenk. I think he nails it. Once again, for the people in power, it's all about MONEY. Until something impacts their pocketbooks, nothing is going to happen.

I have watched this "revolution" with interest in the weeks it has been going on. I'm curious as to how it will turn out, to see if nonviolent revolution is really possible. So far, it seems like there is a lot of chanting and cheering, but little change. It's going to take money or bullets to get the current administration to shit or get off the pot.

2. In my opinion, the hesitancy is due to concern about what will happen
to the treaties between Israel and Egypt if the Egyptian people are given the vote.

Now, I am a strong supporter of Israel. I understand the history behind the country's establishment after WWII. I have lived in various countries in Europe and am pretty knowledgeable about the history of the anti-semitism that made the founding of Israel pretty much a retreat of last resort for Jewish people. So, there is no question about my support for Israel.

But, the fact of the matter is that the Israelis have been unrealistic about their situation -- as has the government of Egypt. Israel has had a long time and many opportunities not just to insure its survival in the heart of the Middle East. It has had many, many chances to win the hearts and minds of people in the area. And Israel has passed many of those chances by. Israelis could spend much more of its energy and resources encouraging wise investment, constructive dialogue and interfaith action in the area. It has missed so many chances to build friendships and working together with others. Ironically, as we saw in the case of the building of the Muslim community center in NYC, Jewish and Muslim and Christian groups work together with a great deal of compassion and understanding in some areas in the US. This could happen just as well in the Middle East.

So, the hesitancy on the part of Obama and the Egyptian government is simply due to terribly mistaken assumptions and the use of a strategy of militarism rather than cooperation by Israel in the area.

I realize that Israel has been under near constant attack and that it has faced a lot of terrorism, but in attacking back without investing more in developing compassionate, constructive relationships with its neighbors, it has made its own future much more difficult that it needs to be.

I hope that there will be some soul-searching and honest assessment of reality in Israel. There is no reason that Israelis, Palestinians and all in the area cannot live in harmony and respect each other's religions and ways of life. No reason whatsoever.

3. Plz Don't Flame Me... Just Asking
Hey guys, plz don't flame me :)
I'm just asking a question here
Cenk is one of my most fav reporters since in a long time

But is he, correct me if i'm wrong please... is he suggesting a bribe?
I'm truly a person that believes that the right thing to do is always the right thing
Is trying to influence someone with money, a bribe, what he is suggesting?

Because that's what happened with the Oslo Bribe... The Oslo Accord offered money to Israel & Egypt in exchange for peaceful relations.
As we can see today, that's not what is happening
If anything that Oslo Bribe money is used to further Israel's apartheid on gaza and war crimes against palestine

Wouldn't ending all money pumping to all dictartorships be a better route?
no conditions, just end it?
Otherwise you are merely requesting temporary compromise instead of actual change.

But correct me if i'm wrong, did he suggest stoping all money pumping to Egypt or is he suggesting we play a card and offer money in exchange for change?
