Evan Kohlmann and Cenk Uygur layout why we should be supporting the protesters.

Removing Al-Qaeda's raison d'être.

1. Excellent video
I have to admit that I am not very educated when it comes to nuances in middle eastern or Islamic factions. I resisted watching "Al Jazeera" for a long time because I assumed it was like a "Fox News" for Muslims. I'm glad to learn about all of this stuff here.

3. I agree and I like it
I've started watching them since the live feeds they had concerning what was going on in Egypt. I was surprised to find that so many of the reporters were not of Middle Eastern decent.

6. Al Jazeera

Way back when (when Bush started to invade Iraq) they started smearing Al Jazeera. But I had heard people very familiar with the mid east, that Al Jazeera was the best straight news organization over there. They said that during the 1st invasion of Iraq, the US news and the European news spun everything, all the death counts, etc. But that Al Jazeera reported the exact counts, un-spun, unedited . . just the facts. So I knew our government was trying to marginalize them so our people would discredit the reporting Al Jazeera did.

4. THIS is where the Saudi's owning Fox News is so critical:
Look at the story the rightwing is pushing, BECAUSE of the Saudi (al Qaeda) influence. They are pushing people to go AGAINST the protesters, and trying to frighten Americans into believing that the Muslim Brotherhood is al Qaeda.

Fox news is dangerous on so many levels. Rupert Murdock wants the USA to become nazi central, and Saudi Arabian rulers want al Qaeda to keep being the reason why we are spending our national treasure on wars that can't be won. They both want to break us, which they are doing with the help of the right wing's stupidity in this country.

5. The confluence of events leading up to, and surrounding...

the Egyptian Revolution is tailor-made for Obama. This IS why myself and many other Americans voted for him in the first place.

Think about it. The most iconic figure to emerge from this event is Wael Ghonim, a high ranking marketing executive from a major US corporation, Google.

Both Christians and Muslims have provided protection for each other during religious services in Tahir Square. Secular Egyptians and Christians blocked access to the square during Friday Prayer, and then reversed rolls for Sunday Mass. Even before the protests, Muslims provided security for Coptic Christians during Christmas services following a bombing a few weeks ago.

Many of the organizers from the April 6th Youth Movement are the children of ruling class families. They are college educated, they speak English, and have their fingers on the pulse of the Muslim world via social networking sites such as Facebook, and Twitter; both major US companies..

Iran was smacked down by The Muslim brotherhood for claiming that this was an Islamic revolution. By making such statments, the have made utter fools of themselves considering their actions during the Green Revolt.

The round-up of The Muslim Brotherhood by Mubarak in the days after the assassination of Anwar El Sadat was the impetus for the creation of Al-Qaeda.

America's support for the Mubarak regime is second only to our support for Israel in propaganda war waged by Al-Qaeda and their affiliates.

If America is seen by the Egyptian protesters as assisting Mubarak or his cronies i retaining power, then we will have missed the ONLY opportunity to crush Al-Qaeda and their ilk.

But if Obama and Hillary Clinton can be seen on the Arab street as assisting the Egyptians in throwing off the Mubarak regime, and aid in the recovery/transition without excessive meddling in the political process, we will have dealt a death blow to violent extremism.

If Obama does not take full advantage of the facts on the ground to promote the outbreak of "infidel democracy" (AQ-Iraq statement) I will not be voting for him again.
