In 1992, David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, was seeking to be put on the presidential ballot in Wisconsin. As this was an embarassment for the Republican party, they sought to block Duke from the ballot. Scott Walker was working for the Republican Party of Wisconsin at the time and appeared with Duke on Milwaukee Public Television's "Smith & Company" to discuss the matter.

So, seems like an easy gig, right? Go on the show, condemn Duke as an extremist, racist, nut job and say his views aren't representative of the Republican Party.

Instead, Walker went on the show and made a point of saying that he was condemning Duke for his past involement in the KKK and not for "issues" he was then bringing-up. In fact, Walker went out of way to say that issues Duke was talking were not extreme, saying:

So what are some of the post-KKK Duke "issues" that Walker says are not extreme?

How about this:

We (Whites) desire to live in our own neighborhoods, go to our own schools, work in our own cities and towns, and ultimately live as one extended family in our own nation.

Or how about this holocaust-denying "issue":

You can't find one written order to one commander at any of these camps which says 'Exterminate the Jews.'

Or about this Headline from an AP article 1990?

Senate Candidate David Duke Fanning the Flames of Racism

3. What's scary, is that if you watch the full interview
and listen to David Duke - He says the EXACT same things everyone in the Tea Party says. "Our Christian heritage is under attack", "We have to preserve our heritage (meaning the heritage of the "White majority" he says plain and straight out).

It's truly shocking - Walker was actually speaking against Duke, and now, I swear, he sounds JUST LIKE HIM.

10. whats the context?
Maybe he was referring to his political beliefs which is not that different from republican policy. Don't be a Breitbart, post the whole clip

17. He spelled them out
Welfare reform, job protection, job security.

He then, by context, made the point that Duke was hiding behind "these legitimate issues".

As I've stated, I think the editing was deceptive.

11. I certainly have no love for Scott Walker, but the editing of this clip makes me uncomfortable
The right wing takes things out of context and uses them to smear its opponents.
We're better than that.

Besides, there is undoubtedly plenty of unedited stuff that makes him look bad.

13. Uh, so far I've heard him compare Duke to Jeffrey Dahmer
6:15 mark.

Link for those too young to know about Dahmer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Dahmer

I'm not saying Walker isn't a smarmy, duplicitous, disaster of a governor.

Still listening, I want to hear the "We (Whites) desire to live in our own neighborhoods, go to our own schools, work in our own cities and towns, and ultimately live as one extended family in our own nation." part. If that's as advertised then Walker is toast.

16. Not an honest editing imo
Walker first specified that "some" of Duke's issues were legitimate and then later specified them. He then made the point that if Jeffrey Dahmer was backing some good issues he would also not be legitimate.

I regret that in my previous post I misunderstood what would be quoted in the video.
