Mike Huckabee speaks at the Rediscover God in America Conference in Iowa and says that America would be better off if everyone were forced, at gunpoint, to listen to David Barton.

- Poe's Law strikes again. What's really disturbing is that we live in a nation where this man could be seriously considered by some as "presidential timber."

1. America would be better off had
Lincoln taken a hard line with the David Barton's of the world.

8. Barton and the Huckster would have been on the pro-slavery
side back in the day.

16. Poe's law...
"Poe's Law is an axiom suggesting that it's difficult to distinguish between parodies of religious fundamentalism (or, more generally, parodies of any crackpot or extremist belief) and genuine proponents of religious fundamentalism, since they both seem equally insane"

7. Well, in all fairness.....
...this was the Rediscover God in America Conference. For these folks what the Huckster was saying is pretty tame. Most people don't really want to know what some of these fundaloons would like to do to a lot of the "unsaved."

I thought Huckabee was just an incompetent boob.

Wait, that's redundant. No, I'll leave it stand.

This reminds me of Coldplay's 'Dancing Politicians.' Oh, yeah, we are so there. You can't make this stuff up. These people run the world. We are doomed.

Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 03:55 AM by AsahinaKimi
This man has just proven, that he is not qualified to be POTUS. He's not an American, he's against everything the Constitution or Bill of Rights has given us. He belongs with the Corporate elite who believe like he does.

27. Huckabee's name.....
...should be Huckabuck. Because like Sarah, that's what he's in it for.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that most (if not all) politicians are psychopaths. Some are just more amiable than others. One such nutcase is Scott Walker who probably initially appealed to a response by Wisconsin conservatives who wanted to turn back the clock after Obama was elected, and that's exactly what he's giving them. But they see how truly fcuked-up he is and now want to push the clock back to where it was. The man is clearly insane. The Huckster on the other hand is just as batshit as Walker, but he appeals to the good 'ol boyism that you find in large quantities down in the south and in other parts of the country where religion abounds and education is looked down upon as being snooty and putting on airs.

Ultimately it's all about them and their comfort. And their power. The Huckster started out in the pulpit as a Baptist preacher and ended up as a governor of Arkansas who granted clemency to not one, but to two http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/470877/huckabee_secured_release_for_rapist.html?cat=17">rapist/killers who -- once freed -- went out and raped -- and then killed their victims. Just like about everyone in the state thought they would (and speaking of psychopaths, we need to keep an eye on his http://realitybong.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/huckabee-kids-are-not-puppies/">son too). All of which only goes to show that he believed himself then as now to be especially equipped to see inside someone's soul and declare them "saved." Or, as in this case, they should be forced to listen to this blathering idiot he's going on about as some kind of messenger from god almighty, at gunpoint.

- I guess you could say that he has a kind of NRA/Messiah complex.....

17. I saw this somewhere else and quite a few of the commenters
kept saying “He was obviously joking.” And arguing that it didn’t mean a thing. They couldn’t be convinced that it was 1) an inappropriate subject for anyone running for President. 2) Many of the truest emotions are expressed in the form of a joke.

23. David Barton says that Pagans have no constitutional right to religious protection
“The true historic meaning of “religion” excludes paganism and witchcraft, and thus, does not compel a conclusion that McCollum has state taxpayer standing … paganism and witchcraft were never intended to receive the protections of the Religion Clauses"

http://wildhunt.org/blog/2010/11/the-troubling-rise-of-david-barton.html

Lots of links to other disparaging things this man has said about Pagans and other minority faiths, as well details which politicians this psychopath has ties to.

With that attitude, he sounds like perfect "presidential timber".....I'm sure he and his loony followers
see no problem with it at all.

I don't think there are many of us of any political stripe who want to hear a leader say Americans should be indoctrinated at gunpoint.
