The problem is, it's well nigh too late in the day for a conciliatory president. We didn't need to "get along" with those who had put us on this path, we needed someone and indeed we thought we had voted for someone that understood it was time to turn off this path of destruction we're on. One that would do everything necessary to make that point clear. We stand corrected.
Unlike the "so-called pragmatist's" view, we don't give a shit about how little power the president has (as we're constantly being informed as if we'd all flunked 8th grade civics), unless he's showing that he's fighting the good fight he'll have no one at his back. Which is where he finds himself right now. We are the POWER but we chose to use the system as designed to invoke that power. But we find that we have been undermined by an ineffectual leader who doesn't know how to use that power, or is afraid of it. Or he never intended to use it at all, but rather was put in-place to try and blunt it.
So, here we are poised over the big chest of money that has all the robber barons salivating with glee: The Social Security Trust Fund. So what will we do when Obama offers it in sacrifice? Will the PEOPLE POWER finally flex its muscle then? Or will we we be once again reminded how little power our leaders have and that we should simply support them because they're not taking it all and that it could be oh so much worse?
- You're right, it could be worse and if we continue on this path we'll definitely find out by how much.......
