4/27/11: Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, arguing in favor of an anti-affirmative action bill.

TRANSCRIPT: You see, women usually don't want to work as hard as a man, because, now I mean, now get me, wait a minute, now listen to me, women, hang on, women tend to think a little bit more about their family, wanting to be at home more time, want to have a little more leisure time, that's all I mean. I'm not saying women don't work hard. I think women work very hard, so don't take that the wrong way. But that's fact as you have to keep in mind. Women like to have a moderate work life with plenty of time for spouse and children and other things like that, that's all I meant, okay. They work very hard. But sometimes they aren't willing to commit all their life to a job like a lot of men do. That's all I meant by that. All right.

2. fuck you asshole!! women go out to a job and then come home and make dinner and do laundry
and essentially end up doing two full time jobs. women have to work twice as hard to get paid less than men! they do the work of a manager without getting the salary or the opportunities of a manager. what an asshole!

20. women go out to a job and then come home and make dinner and do laundry
Besides all the "home maker" stuff...

I've noticed that whenever I deal with some big wig at like an insurance company, or a printing company, or something like a mortgage or banking set up.... there's always, ALWAYS some assistant who is getting everything in order and seeing that stuff gets done on time and correctly. This busy, working overtime assistant is most times a woman. I used to work in film, and I have NEVER worked on a set with a male keeping continuity. It's always a woman.

What IS it with these lame Repug women who want men to take care of everything?

3. What a load of crap!
Why would any woman be a republican in the first place? The Asshole Party has become more and more of an "old boy's club", dedicated to putting women down. And they enlist women to help!

15. The amount of "work" women did at home then and now was
amazing, but still is not considered to be "work".

5. WTF???
I guess she is not buying that whole 2nd shift theory, when a woman works a job out of the home and again when she gets home? She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, is she?

6. What a stupid, spoiled, rich kid brat.
That moron thinks women working is OPTIONAL.

When she gets home, I assume the maid, cook, and nanny have everything under control?

She has the empathy of lice.

7. How fitting that this idiot would make these...
idiotic statements at just the time women have surpassed men in receiving advanced degrees for the first time in our nation's history.

10. What a fool. And this says it all:
"Women like to have a moderate work life with plenty of time for spouse and children and other things like that"

Take out the word "women" and put in "humans." That is the dream of the middle class: work you enjoy, a family you love, security at home and abroad, now and in retirement. That is the world that the Unions, the Civil Rights movement, the Gay Rights movement, and, Rep. Kern, the Women's Movement built in America. And that is the world the Republican party is doing all in its power to destroy.

This is the Representative from Oklahoma City? Well over half of the victims on April 19, 1995 were women, either at work or in childcare because they had working parents. Kern should be ashamed.

12. Undoubtedly, and that is how it should be.
These "Family Value" hypocrites think that only women want (and maybe even deserve) to have a work and a personal life? What about the family? That directly flies in the face of their "platform."
Of course, so do all of the repiglicans who "get caught" in adulterous (often homosexual) affairs after they stump hard for family values.
Anyway, we have one corporate party that maintains (or tries to) the illusion of a 2 party system, when we actually deserve a multi-party system (especially a labor party) to represent what is reflected in the polls. These polls do not show a citizenry divided on the hard questions. They show majorities wanting financial reform, taxes on the wealthy, an end to wars of choice, etc... all the while, these "politicians" and the MSM, try to keep us divided along "party lines" by using misinformation and distractions. It is all an illusion to allow the the "ruling elite to remain the ruling elite.

We need a Peoples Revolution. Not a violent one, I hope, but one where the people win and come before profits.

11. What a freaking idiot!!!!
Pay should be ONLY based on performance. It should have nothing to do with sex AT ALL. Some women at a certain stage in their lives HAVE children to look after, but some men think only about getting out on the putting green or getting home to watch the "game". Some women are workaholics as are some men and they should be compensated. Sex should have absolutely nothing to do with it.

22. This is the same racist beyatch that said "blacks don't work as hard as white people"
I think she's got issues. And she's free to speak for herself but should she be speaking for all women on this issue? I don't think so.
