2. Interesting but annoying
First, this was a very confusing and chaotic segment-- how to know who was right about our oil reserves.

Never heard this about using the middle east oil up first so we hold the last oil.

Someone said Saudis use more oil than we do? Sounds unbelievable.

Lots of misinformation.

But the worst was the poo poo ing about looking for oil responsibly. The Fox shills attitude was disgusting.

3. The problem is....
Is that republicans and conservatives NEVER think about the future. Its because of their "fuck the collective I'm out for myself" attitude. But in reality this country was formed with the "United We Stand, Divided we Fall" attitude. Which is also why they will kill medicare and social security, because they don't give a fuck about society as a whole, just their own self interests.

9. It's also because they believe they'll be 'raptured' and not have to live with the consequences...
I know this from experience watching GOP actions against the environment. Some Christians I know welcomed the BP disaster in the Gulf, excited at the prospect of the Second Coming being near. Because they believe they will go to Heaven then.

Al Gore expressed it this way in 'Earth In The Balance,' page 263:

"...prophetic vision of the apocalypse is used as an excuse for abdicating their responsibility to be good stewards of God's creation."

Can anyone who sees the Earth as just a battleground for religious dominion and not as important or worthy in itself, be trusted to be in charge of its incredible bounty?

4. Outnumbered by either 5 to 1 or 4 to 2, I couldn't tell which and being consistently interrupted by
the shills, nonetheless I believe he handled him self well.

Thanks for the thread, democracy1st.

5. Non-FOX Facts
Fact: Brazil and China do not use more oil in a day than the US and that means not by a long shot. China, India and Brazil don't use more oil than the US. These three countries plus Russia don't use as much oil as the US.

Fact: The US doesn't have the worlds largest untapped oil reserves, and certainly not 500 billion barrels. It's more like 20. Recoverable oil is much less

Fact: The market for oil is global. Oil produced in the US is sold to the highest global bidders. For example, right now between 15 and 20 percent of American refined petroleum products (from oil delivered from all global sources)are exported. American refining capacity is also down 7%. The result is much higher pump prices.

Fact: The FOX "energy experts" are mere Wall Street shills and lying sons-of-bitches, and they know it, and the do it without hesitation, with conviction and without shame. :puke:

7. Fox loudmouth
That Faux loudmouth that spews the 500 billion barrel nonsense doesn't tell the whole story. While we may have that much in the ground (I think he's talking about the Bakken formation in North Dakota/Montana, which was discovered a long time ago back in 1951, and may have 400-500 billion barrels as shale deposits), we can only "recover" what is technologically possible. And extracting from shale deposits is more expensive. The USGS says we're only able to recover up to 4.3 billion barrels from the Bakken formation. Though some estimates are as high as 24 billion barrels.

Move over fossil fuels, make way for alternative (and cheaper in the long run) green/clean energy!

10. Gross. And millions of the barrels of oil they say we've got have to be fracked out.
Edited on Sun May-01-11 10:07 PM by Overseas
Fracking is desperation oil -- willing to force thousands of pounds of toxic chemicals into our shale to force out oil and poison our groundwater.

And they want to do it NOW, baby! Poison us now!

Even that moment of hope where the Democrat mentioned strategic planning-- strategy? Nah! Move it back to stupid macho-- we gotta drill it all now. BP Schmee Pee.

Fox really does dumb things down a lot. And loudly.

Edit to Add--

So I do appreciate our guys who dare go on there bringing brave moments of sanity into their discussions.

Because in the green area especially, and strategic resource usage, we are part of a global community and dag nab it-- where is their patriotism for us not losing our place in the race to worldwide green energy markets? Come on, guys! You remember the space program and all of its technological spinoffs? Our nationwide green emergency repair of our crumbling infrastructure has similar spinoffs, good for all of us.

How can they be All About America and not want us to win those markets too?
