Lawrence O'donnell interviewed Condoleezza Rice tonight which I think was very telling. He specifically asked Rice about the aluminum tubes the Bush administration used to justify the invasion of Iraq.

When Lawrence asked Rice this question about the tubes she quickly became defensive and changed the subject. This makes sense, since this is one of the clear examples that the Bush administration hyped up, and lied, about the intelligence used to justify an invasion of Iraq.

Multiple government agencies including the DOE said that the tubes were likely used for conventional weapons and not WMDs. But the Bush administration, including Rice, repeatedly ignored these warnings and used these tubes to claim that Saddam was building WMDs and there could be no reasonable doubt about that conclusion. As we know today Saddam was never developing any WMDs, and the warnings the DOE made to the Bush administration about these tubes turned out to be absolutely correct. But the Bush administration never suggested any such doubt about these tubes before they invaded Iraq, they tried to paint these tubes as indisputable intelligence that Saddam was developing weapons of mass destruction. And as a result the large majority of Americans, based on these lies, supported the invasion.

Which is why I think it is important to note the fact that Rice dodged the question in this case. She was one of the few people that was responsible for manipulating the intelligence to get us in to Iraq. Ever since then she has tried to wash the blood off her hands in her role in this. And it's great to have someone finally call her out on it.
