Governor Rick Snyder walked in the Blossomtime Parade in Benton Harbor on Saturday. He was greeted by chants of "Recall Rick" all along the parade route in Benton Harbor.

Many of them won their elections by the skin of their teeth. Fools.

I was in Benton Harbor on Saturday for the protest. The parade started in the all white/conservative town of ST.Joe on the other side of the bridge. A small group of us decided to start our protest in St. Joe thinking we would be stopped at the bridge and the people waiting for him in Benton Harbor would have to take over. As we took our spot along the street in St. Joe we were met with cursing and racist comments telling us to go back to the n*****s on the other side of the bridge. We also had one of St. Joe's finest come over to our group of about 14 people, 4 of which were kids 10 and under, to tell us that he would love for us to give him a reason to arrest us. Well, not wanting to let him intimidate us,we ended up getting in a screaming match with the officer in which he told us that "If we could only get rid of the liberals, everything would be OK". As Snyder started coming toward us in the parade, the officer walked over and stood in front of us trying to block us(he also had his ass in the face of a little girl about 5 years old who was holding a sign). As Snyder walked by we started chanting "Recall Rick" and calling him the fascist that he is. He would calmly wave and occasionally give a us a cocky smirk as the people of St. Joe cheered him and cursed at us. We continued chanting as we walked next to him coming up to the bridge, which was clear of spectators except for about 5 people. Well the best part was no one stopped us from crossing the bride (which the great people of St. Joe call the shortest bridge to Africa). So for about 1/4 mile with just us, Snyder and his security, we were able to "speak" with him about his decision to take away the rights of the people of Benton Harbor to elect their own officials. As we crested the hill coming into Benton Harbor, the sight and roar of the people waiting for him in Benton Harbor, the Furor Snyder's face went from arrogance to a look of uh oh. It was Priceless! Once in BH his pace doubled along with his security. In BH all the other protesters/great citizens continued to follow him also and we ended up hounding him the entire length of the parade. It was a beautiful thing. At the end we all gathered and chanted "who's state?" "our state!", "who's cities?" "our cities!". Everyone at the protest was classy, peaceful, and no one I heard was using any kind of profanity. A GREAT DAY FOR THE STATE OF MICHIGAN!

Bravo! Great work and so glad you posted about it! I'm up in Traverse City and we've had a few protests but Snyder wasn't here. It is very likely he'll be here in July for the Cherry Fest, oh we'll get him a very special greeting committee if he does. Very special. :toast:

I am no historical expert, but I think when Hitler annexed Czechoslovakia in 1938, his greetings in the streets were actually a lot more enthusiastic than Fascist Snyder is here?

I might be thinking of the annexation of Austria? I think those people were generally pretty happy when Hitler took them over?

My point is that Western Michigan already knows this guy is an anti-democracy fascist. They don't need years of occupation to learn this. They already know!

He'll be in many parades, especially in areas where he thinks he's "safe". It's a critical part of covering the whole state, showing up for the parades. Gotta do it or many will be offended.

That is what our children will learn of in school, in the coming years. In 2012, the Republicans are going to get CRUSHED by the outraged people they are hellbent on grinding into the dirt, the poor, the middle class, the people who don't have billions of dollars to throw around. I predict MASSIVE Democratic wins throughout the country as people realize more and more that the GOP is not on their side, that they're on the side of the rich, on the side of the polluters, and on the side of the power mongers.
