Opinions, please, on the argument that if you believe in the Right to Healthcare you believe in slavery (of Dr.s) as they would be forced to care for patients.

Obviously, difference is that a slave is compelled by force/treat to do what they are told to do. There is no choice. Whereas, as Dr. would not be.

I'd be interested to hear others' views on this.

3. rand paul seems to have trouble understanding logic
I thought doctors went into medicine to to treat patients.......
I thought slaves were people that were stolen out of their lands and forced to work for someone without benefiting in any profits...

It seems that paul should go back and pray to the Aqua Bubba to get some guidance

4. What a dumb ass.
That's the kind of legal logic you would expect from a barely educated convict, otherwise known as a jail house lawyer.

7. I don't know how many of you guys
have been to a United states citizen swearing in lately. I have been to 5 and the end of every ceremony, the Judge tell you the same thin Rand Just said " you have a right to pursue happiness but theres no guarantee of happiness in America. Also thinking about his statement, I was wondering if there is any other right guaranteed by the US constitution that involves recieveing tangible items e.g clean air, clean water, shelter etc etc

9. Article 1, Section 8
Looks like the government is "to estblish Post Offices and post Roads." I guess the Constitution gives us a right to post offices and roads.

12. Ok
But still post office is not free like for e.g freedom of speech and freedom of religion for example. If I have 0 dollars in my bank, I dont think the post office would accept my package and what are exactly are post roads or do you mean public roads?

The discussion in the free was whether access to free healthcare was a right.

I wouldn't put much into anything said by one or a few people.

13. I have been to 5 swearing in ceremonies
2 in Omaha, 1 in new york, 1 in minnesota and 1 in Albany and every single of the Judges said the virtually the same thing. Another thing they all had in common was the barbers shop quartet singing the pledge

10. You volunteer to be doctor, just like
you volunteer to be a soldier. You sacrifice some or your freedom for a certain amount of $ and as a service to your country. Even in radical socialist countries, I doubt if doctors feel like slaves.

14. Wow Rand your idiocy is showing,.
single-payer guaranteed healthcare is a simple idea. Capitalist ideologues like mr. Paul here sure do twist any semblance of logic in their arguments in these sorts of lame attempts to show how wrong it is,. . REALLY the cops are going to force doctors to treat people?? come on dude make an attempt to life in a real world.

19. Am I missing something?
If we replace 'Doctor' with, let's say, 'Firefighter', would the argument hold? I don't think anyone believes that Americans should recieve free healthcare from slave medical personell. i think as taxpayers, it's not too much to expect that some of the money we pay to support this government, this nation should go toward the health and safety of every citizen. It's not like I'm not already forced by the government to pay for healthcare - an insurance premium comes out of each and every paycheck I earn, along with federal taxes, state taxes, social security and medicare. Take the insurance money, use it to increase my medicare deduction, pay the doctor, and take care of the citizens. Easy Peasy!
