NEWT: I want to make sure every House Republican is protected from some kind of dishonest Democratic ad. So let me say on the record, any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood. Because I have said publicly those words were inaccurate and unfortunate and I’m prepared to stand up… When I make a mistake — and I’m going to on occassion — I want to share with the American people “that was a mistake” because that way we can have an honest conversation.

5. Indeed. Another "not intended to be a factual statement" moment for the GOP.
They have a lot of those.

4. New theme song for the GOP:
You didn't hear it
You didn't see it.
You won't say nothing to no one
ever in your life.
You never heard it
Oh how absurd it
All seems without any proof.
You didn't hear it
You didn't see it
You never heard it not a word of it.
You won't say nothing to no one
Never tell a soul
What you know is the Truth.

My apologies to The Who.

8. what did he say that was a falsehood?
this clip is comical but now I'm curious what was it that he said that's got him so tongue twisted. I try very hard to avoid watching these ass clowns or the dog and pony sunday shows they're featured on.

11. He attacked the Ryan Plan as "right-wing social engineering"
Edited on Wed May-18-11 10:53 AM by emulatorloo
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/05/newt-gingrich-blasts-gop-budget-as-right-wing-social-engineering.php

Newt Gingrich slammed the House GOP budget on Meet The Press this morning, telling interviewer David Gregory that replacing Medicare with a voucher system was too "radical" an approach. His words were by far the harshest of any major presidential candidate towards Paul Ryan's proposal on entitlements.

"I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering," Gingrich said, calling the plan "too big a jump" for the country. "I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate."

====

All the Republicans went ballistic and he was forced to apologize to Ryan. He came out and walked back the statement and basically said he didn't really mean it.

So his ORIGINAL STATEMENT is the "falsehood", LOL

21. thank you for shedding light..
That's sort of draw dropping.. Newt attempting to take a "moderate" or "Centrist" approach on this issue, and he gets skewered for that to the extent that he feels compelled to hit the delete button.

wow.

Stupid.

Sarah, Michele Bachmann, Newt, and about every other elected Republican officeholder really is in the
Stupid Party.

12. I love the way that he accuses Democrats of underhandedness
for something that hasn't come to pass yet (some future "dishonest Democratic ad") in the same breath that he's talking about having an honest conversation.

Jerk.

13. Bwahahaha - this 'intelligent thinker' sure is stupid a lot for someone who's forte is 'smarts'

I guess he had to unravel that 'I DO' statement he made to his wife(s) on various occasions, so there's no telling WHAT he's gonna say today that he'll UN-say tomorrow.

Such PRESIDENTIAL material we got growing there in the back alleys of FoxNews...

19. he can use that line to explain his past marriages. ''Any vows I made to that woman were
a mistake. I'm going to make them on occasion, and when I do, I'm will to share my new wife with the American people.''

22. The question, Newt, is this:
Which conversation is the honest one? The one we're having today? The one we had yesterday? Or the one we'll have tomorrow? Because if you feel that comfortable repudiating what you clearly said just days before, then it's hard to... take you seriously, at all, ever.
