2. That was perhaps the most powerful defense of the US Constitution...
I've seen from an American politician in a long time, the only other that comes close in clarity are the various statements by Senator Feingold.

8. agreed
It has been too long since I heard from him. He would have a hard time getting elected these days, but we need more. Plus Daniel Patrick Moynihan would be turning over in his grave.

13. I have adored this man for years and was so proud to have him as my Governor.
Seeing him again reminds me why I loved him in the first place. :)

16. That is exactly how I felt
and doesn't he look great he really hasn't aged - was VERY happy to see that...unfortunately by the time he became governor I had already left NY for VA BUT my family is still there and I am and will always be a New Yorker no matter where I live - someone called me a Floridian yesterday and I LAUGHED RIGHT OUT LOUD....

17. Once a NYer always a NYer. I'm originally from Queens, worked then lived in Manhattan,
and live in a suburb now for 24 years but still consider myself as much a resident of the city as anyone who lives there. In a few years, if I had the money (which I probably won't have) would move back in a heartbeat.

22. Lived on 23rd and 7th ave overlooking all of manhatten for many years back in the day
my company moved me north...but you are right "once a New 'Yoaker' always a New 'Yoaker" and I have always admired this man. Speaking of what if...what if he had become president when he ran. Think of the age of enlightenment that might have followed. kr

26. I remember when Cuomo gave the keynote speech at the 1984 Democratic Convention
Edited on Sun Sep-30-07 08:28 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
and he talked about a tale of 2 cities. It was the most moving speech I had ever heard in my life. We were at that time close to 4 years into Reagan's first term and the poor were being left behind fast and furiously. Cuomo talked about it and when he finished I was sobbing.

Just did a search and found it on the net, with video. This speech, given 23 years ago is as relevant as if it was given today. I think I'm going to post the video later on the video board. I just tried to post the video and it's already archived at DU. Unfortunately it can't be kicked. Everyone must see it.

BTW..Chelsea is lovely! I lived on 27th and 3rd for 4 years (1980-1984) :)

Hope you saw that, and that it reminds you of what a Democrat really sounds like when the evil wind is up. What an awesome American. We should tie these fuckers to chairs and make them listen to this man until each of them grows a spine.
