Thanks to Barack Obama's leadership, leadership that eclipses the ineffective Bush administration's by light years, Democrats were rallied to maximize political capital on the heels of the disastrous Bush administration! They seized this opportunity to stand up to Republican bullying and deliver what the majority of American's were calling for--government sponsored health care!

Now that small businesses are no longer responsible for providing health care to their employees at rates determined by profit driven conglomerates, they are less encumbered by overhead and can afford to offer flexibility to those in need!

Thank you Democrats and Barack Obama!

You stood up in the face of relentless propaganda and mountains of industry bribery to deliver for The People, and for that you will not be forsaken!

swept away, out of sight, out of mind.

2. Nobody gives a shit
The main reason this is allowed to happen is that nobody gives a shit. Americans have to be the least empathetic group of people in the world.

3. The Family Medical Leave Act Was Passed Under Clinton
and it exempted employers with less than 50 workers. So, how is this Obama's fault?

4. Oh Goodness, it Certainly Has Nothing to do with Obama!
He did the best he could! And so did the Democratic majority! Poor things, look at the hardships they faced! We're soooooo lucky for anything we might ever get maybe, at some point!

This is a Family Medical Leave issue. I would be angry at the company. Why would the President be at fault??

and... "Now that small businesses are no longer responsible for providing health care to their employees at rates determined by profit driven conglomerates, they are less encumbered by overhead and can afford to offer flexibility to those in need!"

One can assume that this man's employer is strictly interested in efficiency in his business and NOT with any impact on providing coverage for this kind of an illness.... if one wanted to.

If one seriously wants to believe that changing the way health care is delivered in America has absolutely no bearing on this example, fine.

COBRA was a life saver for me but when you can't find a job those COBRA payments are impossible!

Barack Obama, IMO, failed us. What's worse is he barely got his hands dirty... except for all of the backroom deals with insurance and pharma. He compromised from before the beginning and I don't have to appreciate that no matter what anyone here claims.

13. It Doesn't Have Anything to do with Obama
The people of MA elected a Republican to replace Ted Kennedy. Aren't they to blame as well?

Obama is not King, contrary to what your juvenile mind can comprehend.

The American people elect asshole Republicans and some asshole Democrats to office as well. Why excuse them?

Please repeat high school civics.

Again, please repeat high school civics.

16. Thank You
What I don't get is that there are a ton of opposite stories of people who have been helped by the Health Care Reform Act. I understand this is a devastating story, but why aren't we blaming the company for terminating the husband?? They have taken the absolute worst meaning of the law to their advantage. But it's OK, everything is Obama's fault. My God, what is wrong with this place??

Please repeat high school civics.

Republicans don't elect themselves. If you want change, we have to work harder for it, and not rely on who is president.

31. "Republicans don't elect themselves"...
well, I haven't voted for any. The problem is we have too many republicans in democratic clothing on capital hill, and if any of us are even mildly critical of them we are told to shut the fuck up and take it. When democrats refuse to act like democrats, they are going to hear it from me- and I can make more noise than the average Pep Squad.

Facts.

If the President cared at all, he would be at Ms. Butler's bedside right now.

Seriously, this is tragic. While the Affordable Health Care for America Act was a massive leap in the right direction, there's still work to do.

39. You comment and the OP's video and comments are the reason rethuglicon get elected!
You bitch so much about our own party that people don't vote or you encourage people to vote against us.

That is the difference between repugs and democrats. They at least stand by their elected officials while we flay ours.

I don't think you are helping the situations at all. You have picked one items and turned it into a defamation of Obama. Have you forgotten that the ruthugs are trying to take money away from education, food safety, police, environmental health and give it to the top 1% of the earners in this country?

Do you want that to continue? Because you sure are helping them out a lot.

26. Incidentally, This Action is Legal.
I understand the Kudos for Clinton's COBRA (which allows for this by the way), my point is broader. For one thing, in light of the current attack on all social programs, an attack that puts even Social Security and Medicare in its sights, with a sitting Democratic President, the compromises made by President Obama combined with the success of Republicans no matter if in the minority or majority, is a reflection on the inefficacy of Democrats not Republicans.

That this is a case for FMLA is important but as important is the fact that people like this by the MILLIONS don't even HAVE insurance. The time was right for serious reform and Democrats are to blame for selling out... NOT Republicans. We are NOT standing up and fighting. Too many are making excuses and playing to lose.
