He became a U.S. citizen so that he could buy U.S. papers.

"In 1985 Murdoch became a United States citizen to satisfy legislation that only United States citizens could own American television stations. This also resulted in Murdoch losing his Australian citizenship."

3. I think all democracies need some strict laws about ownership of the press +
television news media.

Back when I was growing up, one of my local TV channels, (back when we had rabbit ears and got all our TV from 4 local channels), there were rules about ownership, and a newspaper in our local town was forbidden from bidding on ownership of one local TV station!!!!

What has happened in our democracies around the world ? Why did they ALL bow down to corporations and let them become multi-billion dollar controllers of information flow world-wide?
