pinheads last night, one of them said Franken was losing badly in the polls in spite of all the Hollywood money he's raised, he will lose.
How's he really doing?

3. Al Franken was about five points behind Norm Coleman in the most recent...
...poll I've seen.

I don't think most of his money is from Hollywood.

10. My impression is that he has more money from grassroots
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 11:53 PM by cynthia
While Coleman is getting more money from big corporations, Al is getting lots of money from individual donors, so when you compare the number of donors, Al is way ahead.

Norm says one thing and then votes another way. The people of MN have had enough of him.

I love the chant I heard in one parade: the Team Franken marchers shouted, "Al's not the Norm"

Here's a clip from MN BLUE

Norm Coleman got dirty money from Alaska
Submitted by The Big E on October 5, 2007 - 11:40am.

Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) has received $6,000 from VECO Corp executives. Norm may complain about Al Franken getting Hollywood money, but Norm is flush with dirty Alaskan oil money.

For years, while VECO Corp. was flush with oil profits and in a giving mood, Capitol Hill politicians happily accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from employees of the Alaska oil contractor.

But now that two Alaska lawmakers are under FBI scrutiny as part of a growing corruption scandal involving VECO, the friendly feelings have faded and some in Washington are shedding the campaign donations connected with the company.

VECO founder Bill Allen and former company vice president Rick Smith have pleaded guilty to bribing public officials. They also admitted running a company "special bonus program" that steered money to favored candidates, violated federal tax laws and sent untold amounts of corporate money into political coffers.
...
Coleman's office said his campaign books were closed and the money was already spent.

6.  Al Franken is the man, and will make one hell of a good Senator!!
I would like to see a video in reference to the lawsuit filed by AGAINST AL FRANKEN, for using their alleged logo FAIR AND BALANCED. i videotaped a portion of Al's comments about this event from a Democracy Now segment, now I can't find my video. So I'll try and list the events chronologically.
1. Al's book is titled THE LIES AND THE LYING LIARS THAT TELL THEM, on the jacket cover, the subtitle was A FAIR AND BALANCED LOOK AT THE RIGHT, with pictures of Bill O'Liely, Bush and Cheney there may have been others I don't recall.
2. Fox News, in their lawsuit to stop this book from being published claimed that Al had used their logo without explicit permission.
3. Al was in Europe when he heard of the impending lawsuit and he said, "bring it on, they can't sue a person for satirizing even if the person being satirized doesn't get it!!
4. The lawyer for Fox opened with this statement. "Your Honor, millions of people watch Fox news every day." The Judge halted the attorney in mid sentence and asked this question. "I get cable, does this mean that I get Fox news also?"
5. According to Al's recollection of the trial. The lawyer replied in a muffled tone, "yes your Honor!"
6. "Then the Court literally burst out laughing. Usually when a person says literally they mean figuratively. But this was literally, and the laughter continued throughout the entire trial. And after hearing both sides of the opening statements, with my lawyer citing free speech and Constitutional references, the Judge said there will be a brief recesss and I will return with my ruling."
7. The Judge returned with this statement, and I'm paraphrasing "I'm ruling in the defendants favor , and furthermore I cannot find any evidence that the logo FAIR AND BALANCED should belong to Fox News. Then the Judge added that this case is WHOLLY WITHOUT MERIT!"
8. Then the lawyer for Fox News dropped all charges and Court was adjourned.
9. Al Franken said it best when he declared."And now Fox News should have a new logo WHOLLY WITHOUT MERIT."
My fervent hope is that the Franken people would come out with a TV ad that at least mentions this fiasco of a trial, and I will gladly donate a "C" note to his campaign.

5. Al Frankin will be a smashing Senator
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 01:37 PM by ooglymoogly
Unlike many of our Neanderthal senators he instinctively understands words and their shadings and how they frame an issue, instinctively he understands timing and when to make a stand, when to grandstand and when not. I would vote for him in a heartbeat and expect the best.

7. Anyone remember a
bit he did on SNL with Ken Davis about two politicians, one of whom was Pete Taglianni. It ended with one of them (can't remember which) shot the other when a scandal involving corruption and binge drinking came out. It was really funny stuff.
