"Billionaires" thank Minnesota state legislators for pushing the ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) agenda - putting the needs of the wealthy and the corporations before those of the common folk. State Senator Dan Hall asks them to leave when he is questioned about ALEC. WAMM (Women Against Military Madness) are the activists talking with the legislators. The rally in the rotunda was organized by Take Action Minnesota

who are your state ALEC members? Maybe you have Billionaires that can thank them.

find a list of who has been exposed so far.

what is ALEC ?
ALEC is not a lobby; it is not a front group. It is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, behind closed doors, corporations hand state legislators the changes to the law they desire that directly benefit their bottom line. Along with legislators, corporations have membership in ALEC. Corporations sit on all nine ALEC task forces and vote with legislators to approve “model” bills.

More than 98% of ALEC's revenues come from sources other than legislative dues, such as corporations, corporate trade groups, and corporate foundations. Each corporate member pays an annual fee of between $7,000 and $25,000 a year, and if a corporation participates in any of the nine task forces, additional fees apply, from $2,500 to $10,000 each year. ALEC also receives direct grants from corporations, such as $1.4 million from ExxonMobil from 1998-2009.

Through the corporate-funded American Legislative Exchange Council, global corporations and state politicians vote behind closed doors to try to rewrite state laws that govern your rights. These so-called "model bills" reach into almost every area of American life and often directly benefit huge corporations. Through ALEC, corporations have "a VOICE and a VOTE" on specific changes to the law that are then proposed in your state. DO YOU?

4. Yeah, just use a video camera and ask them if they're members of ALEC.
Or use your cell phone to tape them. Very interesting footage! Let's expose more members of ALEC!!!

7. The link states
that some of these "representatives" pay their ALEC dues with public money. Also, ALEC is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) corporation. If nothing's illegal about any of that, it should be.

8. I love this video and these women (and guys)
it is democracy.. we have to take back our democracy.

what is really sad is the Senator Dan Hall is a Chaplain, so what did Jesus teach him? to give tax breaks to the rich and throw the poor on the street? Maybe we should ask is congregation.

13. Dan Hall is also the one who said that Minneapolis was ruined by integration
Also in this video, he also claims to have a 6th grade reading level - which explains so much

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qy22RecEf0

I have the sad misfortune of living in his district - though my side of the district (Bloomington) did vote for the DFL incumbant - it was the voters in Burnsville who stuck us with this ass.

During the state budget debates I attended one "town hall" that he and some other Republicans had set up. When it became clear that word of the meeting had leaked out and there appeard to be more DFL types at it, they all refused to answer any but written questions and, of course, that deck was stacked. I went to another meeting a couple weeks ago that he didn't show up at & he never returned any of my phone calls asking him about his position on the budget (and the first 5 or 6 were polite, then I began to get progressively snider). I'm not aware of anyone who got a response from him.

The jerk is a "self ordained" minister and, of course claims to be a close personal friend of Jesus. While voting to cut programs for the most vulnerable Minnesotans, he had no problem turning in requests for the maximum per diem (in addition to salary) that a state senator can get - including asking for Good Friday & Easter Sunday - days when the legislature was not in session. This guy lives a 20 minute drive from the capital - it's not like he's coming down from Thief River Falls and needs to pay for lodging and all his meals while in session.

16. Does he have a congregation?
What is his religious affiliation ?
Does he conduct services ?
How ,and who 'ordained' appointed him chaplain ?
Sorry for 20 ? but I'm curious. His income tax returns could be interesting.
Looks like a smarmy SOB.

21. As I said, he claims to be self ordained
As far as I know, he is not a member of any mainstream denomination. I'm not sure how he managed to get appointed chaplin or if that's something else he did himself. I'm sure his tax returns would be interesting. Recently someone mention that, I believe on the disclosure forms filed with the Secretary of State his income source was "donations". I may have to see if those are on line, but I don't have time right now.

23. So when you research a little into this and look at you individual
state representatives that have ties to ALEC, they are almost all republicans. This is true in my state of Ohio. One of the assholes is the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that republicans are out to destroy this country? Their goal is to turn over everything including our government over to corporations.

It's time for a revolution...
