The "brilliance" of the Republican ideology. Cenk explains how the republicans want to cut costs in order to strengthen FEMA by...wait for it...cutting spending on FEMA.

1. It makes an insane kind of sense
They cut Fema to sate the conspiratorial repukes that still think FEMA is some evil conspiracy.

They want to cut first responders because they seem to always hate first responders. I have no idea why. Maybe because they provide medical assistance without regard to socioeconomic class or maybe they hate the idea of public service.

They want to cut hurricane hunters to cut back on collected data on hurricanes. Probably to help with their global warming denier buddies... who knows.

Ok, actually it all makes no sense and is completely insane. As usual.

2. What upsets me is not that Republicans say such things....
because hating government and refusing to help people is their schtick.

No, what upsets me is that no Democrats will make any good campaign ads out of it. Republican rhetoric has reached the point where it's all just campaign-ad softballs. But they never pay a price.

3. Lazy Journalism 101
Throw a half arsed red meat to the lions so they can eat it up without questioning it. Cenk, who are these republicans you are talking about? are they grass root people? think tanks? state elected officials? or national ones? and most importantly what exactly are their names, quotes or sources for these retarded policies? I know sometimes mainstream news sources get tricked into reporting stories from the onion but TYT are better than that. This video could easily come from Faux news with the "some people say line" before any of the stupid proposals.

Now I have heard 2 prominent republicans propose offsetting FEMA funds with cuts but after my exhaustive google search, I cannot find any where someone suggested that they do the cutting now before dolling out the funds or the offsetting cost be pulled from FEMA itself to fund FEMA. Sometime yesterday I saw a news segment from MSNBC where Cantor suggested we cut from heat assistance program to fund FEMA. We all know Cantor is a complete fraud because he voted against offsetting disaster relief with cuts in 2004, but now we are to believe that he has found jesus and now care about the deficit? Then there is Ron Paul who suggested that we do not need FEMA in the 1st place but when ahead to say that there be a 2-1 budget cut in military budget to funding of disaster relief. Again not one of the 2 national republicans who have spoken out on this issue have suggested the cuts come before the spending or the cuts come from FEMA itself.

This is lazy work from an otherwise credible news source. Republicans say enough stupid things to hang themselves and when they say it, get names and the quotes before running your segment. No need stooping to their level

4. It's a real hard thing to try to prove Gee Dubyah did anything right
Codifying his stupidity in order to eliminate disaster preparedness isn't the way to do it.

5. Before they give money to people who've suffered losses,
they need to first confirm that none of those people were in cahoots with the hurricanes or the earthquakes.

They're just playing here (on the FEMA cut deal) - secretly they're all joking about whether or not the idiot American people will fall for it.
