Virtually Everything That They Wanted

As a Thanksgiving deadline nears for action by the powerful congressional committee on deficit reduction, Bernie sounded an alarm over reports that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid may be cut. "What we have to remember is that the last three times the Democrats negotiated with the Republicans, in almost every instance, they gave the Republicans virtually everything that they wanted," Sanders told radio host Thom Hartmann on Wednesday.

3. Really?
There shouldn't even BE a 'super committee'! And, just WHO created it?

6. And who was it that created the so-called Deficit Commission whose work was more like
a single-purpose Social Security and Medicare Gutting Commission? :patriot:

8. And,
I was hoping the other DUer who motivated my question would recognize that those who pushed this "super committee" idea are the very same people Obama has consistently 'appeased' each time they've opposed him. Are we supposed to expect a different response from Mr. Obama at this point?

2. I'm worried, as many about this committee, it's nuts
Senator Sanders is one of the few I trust in the Beltway. If we says they repub's got everything they wanted, I believe him.

I contacted my Senator (Kerry) and pleaded for him not to cut the safety net, for all the good it did.x(

Obama has been pushing for some agreement and when I hear Dem's talking about doing something big, it doesn't give me hope.

I will be watching and possible calling into Cspan tomorrow, Thank you Cal for this information.:hi:

5. for the life of me i don't understand why people don't get the CONCEPT of a joint committee
like pretty much everyone here, i loathe the AGENDA of this particular joint committee, but the CONCEPT of a joint committee is pretty standard and humdrum and generally non-controversial.

7. Like a garden variety pair of scissors
Too bad these scissors were sharpened to cut up the safety net.
