Dearlove is the one who made the famous quote "The intelligence and the facts are being fixed around the policy" re. Iraq's possession of WMD. This video appears to be shot at a question and answer period and then at a reception after a speech by Dearlove. Dearlove flees the party after he is confronted by a protester about the Iraqi WMD claim and he responds that he believes the WMD got moved to Syria. The protester reminds him that he is on record as saying the "facts are being fixed around the policy" and accuses him of being a party to murder and a war criminal. Dearlove then heads for the coat rack, grabs his coat and makes a beeline for the exit.

1. wow
notice the difference in style between the U. S. and England. If this had happened here, these folks would have been accosted by thugs....no, actually they'd never get that close to a war criminal here. Probably stuck in a 'free speech zone' here in the land of the free and home of the knave.

Hey 'We Are Change'....good on ya, keep up the fight.

2. I've no reason to like him, but I actually began to feel sorry for him.

The Peter Principle, I suppose. Like Thatcher and Bliar, he was promoted beyond his capacities. And here he was, in some minuscule way, having to pay the piper.

Of course, 'far right' means wrong assumptions, so their implications are bound to be awry.

3. Sorry K?
I can't see how you can feel sorry for this criminal. A few minutes of badgering compared to being one of the ones responsible for enabling the mass murders of 100s of thousands of Iraqi citizens, men women and children, and unknown massive carnage in its wake for decades.

Those on deck at the Nuremberg trials looked forlorn and beaten down as well, as they should. When even more hard evidence comes out against W. Bush are there going to be too many saying, "ah, he looks so sad, and he was just being told what to do, he's so likable etc.."

It must really seem foreign to Americans to see how a democracy works, where the public can actually ask questions (at least on occasion), and not be dragged out or tasered for their trouble.

4. That mass murder certainly hadn't been lost tone me, I assure you,

I did try to make it clear that I was talking about a purely reflexive response, before my conscious intelligence could become engaged. But sometimes conciseness comes at the expense of ambiguity or can simply lead to confusion.

The tone of my post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek from start to finish, since in some situations, an eminent worldling would prefer to be publicly reviled than publicly pitied.
