Full Video: McCain Says Supporter's "Bitch" Query About Hillary Is "An Excellent Question"
By Greg Sargent - November 13, 2007, 2:44PM
Below we noted that a local Fox affiliate had reported on a John McCain event in South Carolina where he'd stood by while one of his supporters called Hillary a "bitch." The footage the Fox affiliate used had been edited to make it unclear what his response was.

Well, now Tim Grieve at Salon has dug up a fuller version of the video from another local station. Take a look:

"How do we beat the bitch?" McCain's supporter asked him. And as you can see, it appears that after McCain joked about offering a "translation" of his supporter's query, he said:

"That's an excellent question."

He went on to add that he had "respect" for Hillary. We've checked in again with the McCain camp for comment on this, and we'll bring you their answer if we get one.

Late Update: A McCain spokesman emails over the following:

"McCain has on many occasions expressed his respect for Senator Clinton, just as he did when confronted with the question in South Carolina."

6. That's what i figured
Nothing happens by accident in the GOP conferences.

McCain is trying to appeal to his Neanderthal base. My hope is that keeps this up. The more ALL the GOP candidates cater to this group of shit heads the better the chances for the Dem nominee.

There is the strong likelihood of "blow back" when the GOP disses women.

Matter of fact it might be a good idea for small groups of us to go to GOP rallies and ask the same question. Hold your nose, don't eat lunch and ask the most loaded sexist questions possible to Rudy, Fred, old John, Mitt and the host of idiots in the game.

3. hillary is A bitch... and in 2008 will become THE bitch...CHECK THESE OUT
so those warmongering pricks in the gop can pucker up and kiss her ass

I think Vera Donovan said it best-------> (advice to the DELORES CLAIBORNEs of the world)--->

Sometimes you have to be a high-riding bitch to survive. Sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has to hold onto.

It's a depressingly masculine world, Dolores.

Sometimes Delores, an accident can be an unhappy womans best friend.

Husbands die every day, Dolores. Why... one is probably dying right now while you're sitting here weeping. They die... and leave their wives their money. I should know, shouldn't I? Sometimes they're driving home from their mistress' aparment and their brakes suddenly fail.

4. What a pandering fucker--so afraid to alienate his psycho-rabid
audience by showing some class and standing up for a lady (even if she is an opponent--that's called being a gentleman). I can't believe this is the same guy who stood against the North Vietnamese for 5 years--where did that honor go?

5. McCain's honor disappeared a long time ago.
If he ever really had any, that is.

9. By McCain's own admission, he gave the NV more than name, rank, and serial #
I would have also, but then again, I haven't ridden a myth of stoic fortitude to wealth and political fortune either

11. Well, I don't blame him for that either, for 5 years of hell. It's just sad
to see a guy I once admired sink to being just another craven pol.

7. Well that should get a couple million more Repub women
to cross over and vote for Hillary. Not to vote Dem but to vote for the woman.

I bet the Clinton campaign planted that question. Good move.

10. I'm all for washing her mouth out with soap. Nothing cute about senile, hateful, nasty old bitches.
This is the typical core of the unmovable 25% that refuse to listen to reason or common sense. And to think I fought in Vietnam to represent such trash? I think I fought in Vietnam for nada...but certainly not to represent this narrow, simple minded vile bitch.

12. I do not like candidate Hillary
but to call her a bitch, and being a WOMAN herself, I think the proper response to the elderly lady who asked the question (watch the vid if you can) is -

"well, ma'am, we go get a couple of sticks and hold you down and start-a-wailing!"

If Hillary (God, please no) gets the nom, she certainly will run a commercial with this if things are tight, because this shows his inability to be a proper man and say, "well to be fair to Hillary, I wouldn't want Sen. Clinton to laugh off a supporter who called me a bastard, so, although I respect your opinion for the reasons you feel the way you do - but may I first say I don't think of her as that"

what a loser he is...
