She needs her message to be publicized widely.

Wow ! She sums it up very well,. its not over but it is very close, people can still stop the rise of American FASCISM, however we need to take action! The way she explains, using historical contexts, that the situation in America is mirrored in other rises of despots and tyrannic killers is frightening to be sure however we must get more people to face this reality.

But my own feeling is that the US needs more education before it can beat back this tide. Things are going to have to get much worse before they get better.

the word 'fascism' we knee-jerk react that it's an absurd possibility. After all, we're AMERICA - we condemn fascism! I think at first glance people believe the charge is over the top.

But with EDUCATION like Naomi Wolf provides, it becomes more clear just WHAT fascism is, and HOW a country gets to that place.

I was of the knee-jerk that's ridiculous school of thought until I heard her present her work. I would love to have her video of her UW talk be shown to every citizen in the country.

I'd also like to have sex with George Clooney, so I don't have high hopes of achieving either fantasy... But there ARE people listening and hopefully this will be accepted more and more as the word spreads....

Fascist dictators don't rise up in a vacuum. There's tremendously powerful interests at work creating this situation. If one leader loses it and gets kicked off the hill, another takes his place.

So who knows who our next dictator will be. Giuliani? Romney? Hillary? Maybe Bush will decide he wants to keep his job. Or maybe some other asshole will manage to get the top spot.

All I know is that the end result will be the same - tyranny.

While it's pretty clear that Bush & co have overhyped the enemy on purpose after the fact (for what reason?).....

It would get divisive and dilute her message to suggest that Bush & co did the deed. Best not to go there.

I've also watched the video of her talk at the University of Washington, and have heard her on several other talk radio shows.

This stuff has to be spread far and wide so we can STOP what is going on in this country.

I knew this was happening. I felt it, I'm sure many of the rest of you have too. I hadn't had such a clear view of it until I saw this and another video of Naomi speak.

I knew that Bush was trying to destroy America but I didn't realise he was following a textbook method of destroying a democracy. By drawing parallels between our country and previous destructions she expresses the problem in a way few can resist I think.

I'm very curious about the book now, hopefully I'll get a chance to read it.

Now, if only the American media would pay attention as it's the only way to get stuff out.

At the very least, I wish bloggers everywhere would harp this for months. Maybe then a growth in realization and an understanding of the danger we are in RIGHT THIS MOMENT might occur.
