John Edwards stopped in Marshalltown, IA today on the first day of his bus tour. This is his conclusion, which is something I haven't seen before from a candidate. Edwards asks Iowans to caucus for him, then shows his sincerity by saying "If I ask you to caucus for me, I have a responsibility to answer your questions."

5. Man, I love this guy
I hope he polls well in January. He and Dennis are the only two that speak loud and clear for working people.

Hillary's OK...Barack's good...John Edwards is the candidate for the people.

And yet, not ALL people.

I wish he'd get his act together about gay marriage and I'm a straight, married man. Why does it matter to him or anybody else if two people want to call their commitment to each other a marriage? Good on 'em. Stable relationships are good for people and good for society.

15. His act *IS* together.
And, no, it doesn't matter to him.

I heard him speak directly to this, so I know what he's saying... what some of you mistook for a negative reply was his honesty. We keep saying what we want in our leaders is honesty -- well, that's what we get in John Edwards.

What he actually said was that *HE* has problems with gay marriage that he has to work through because of his religious upbringing. He struggles with it, as do many people. That's honest.

THEN what he said was that he would never interfere with ANYONE'S civil rights, and that includes marriage. Edwards will NOT enter into any legal wrangling over the issue. OK?

He talked about his own personal struggle.

That's honesty.

He deserves praise for being WILLING to struggle with it at a personal level.

So, yes, he would be a president for ALL THE PEOPLE.

And that includes you, and other gay people.

7. When you begin to answer the question of our votes being counted,
well then, just maybe then, dear "sir Edwards", well maybe just then I'll start to listen to what you have to say.
By the way, when you were last at the "bilderberg" meeting, how did you feel about everything?

Did you agree with all of them? Were you asked to speak to a "special" group? Just why were you there and just what exactly did you come away with? Answer honestly, you just might get our vote. But what is the "definition" of "honest" anyway, kinda like what is the def of is?

11. Question for you
Would you ever go to a Bilderberg meeting? Would you go to find out just exactly what it is, or would you sit at home and just read about it from second hand sources?

I'm sorry, but I would want to know about something first hand, before I would accept or condemn them. All we have now about the Bilderberg's is a bunch of garbage from someone who thinks that it's a "nefarious" group. What if it's not? What if it's a bunch of people who have something in common and get together once a year to make connections. Would that be any more "nefarious" than movie makers going to the Cannes Film Festival? Or Fashion Week in NYC? What about a car trade show? And let's not forget the UN, all those politicians from all over the world, conspiring against us.

14. No
So he must be worth voting for. :sarcasm:

I just called Hillary Clinton's national campaign headquarters. She told me if we vote for her, she will give back all the money she's received from defense contractors.

Also :sarcasm:

10. He Should Have This "Responsibility" Just By Virtue of the Fact
he is Running for POTUS without attaching a "qualifier". So, if you don't pledge to caucus for him he feels no responsibility to answer to you as an American citizen he aspires to represent? And Folks here are congratulating this message as if it were some magnanimous gesture above and beyond the pale of a Politicians responsibility?

As a Presidential hopeful who would be representing ALL THE PEOPLE if elected, he has a responsibility to answer our (the voters) questions whether we plan to caucus for him or not.

Kucinich will answer your questions even if you preface your question with the comment that you plan to vote for Edwards. Now THAT'S sincere.

13. He said if he is asking you to caucus for him, he has the responsibility to answer questions.
There was nothing in there about he would only answer questions from people who are going to support him.

17. I'm glad to know this, and how to go about doing it. I've questioned for a long time now the
"working poor" meme.

I want to ask him about that, and I certainly hope he will answer.

I DO NOT like that meme, and it's time it changed.

18. There's no one
better than this guy, to be our next president! Yup - you can disagree. That's part of the beauty of what's left of our freedoms. Thing is, your arguing against my statement is gonna be futile. You need to talk to someone else. You can not change my mind.
