2. Sane and Refreshing
I agree we are fucked, unless we finally get a grip on the fact that they are not going to do it for us. There are universal laws in play, and each one of us must come to understand what they are, how they work, and how they will free us when consistently and conscientiously applied. We have as much access to true power as they, we just either don't know it, or are afraid to use it. Either way not good!

3. I don't think that Gravel has paid attention to what Edwards has said.
And he does not seem to know that Edwards is not accepting donations from corporate lobbyists. Edwards knows how to make change. Gravel knows that he does. Who is going to pay for health insurance if not employers? They either pay for it by raising wages so that people can afford it themselves, they pay higher taxes to cover the cost of universal insurance or they pay directly for the health insurance of their employees and the uninsured. Ordinary people mostly only have debt, not money or assets to pay for the insurance.

Gravel is just bitter. He thinks he knows better than the others.

He is probably right about Obama. Obama hasn't a clue about much of what he is saying.
I have less and less confidence in Obama. He is still better than Hillary, but not much.

Go, Edwards.

4. I think he also hasn't heard Edwards say he plans to withdraw all troops,
only leaving Embassy protection, which is standard for any embassy. And he plans on doing everything possible to make that happen within the first year of his administration. I heard that a few debates ago and since then I've heard Clinton and Obama attempt to say something along those lines, but not as clearly and convincingly.

6. Without Edwards, Clinton and Obama would not know what to say.
That's understandable with regard to Obama -- who clearly has very little experience. But Clinton is running on her experience. Can't she formulate her own policy by this time? Or does she not have as much real experience as she claims?

8. Excellent question that keeps running through my mind,
and one that every voter should be investigating for themselves.

12. That he didn't simply vote for it, he co-sponsored it. Most voters have no idea.
Gravel said it in a debate, Then they kicked him out (as per Edwards & Hillary arrangement)

14. Actually I think it is a matter of Trust
as he is obviously aware of Edwards current campaign rhetoric but, like many, he also knows his past voting record doesn't even come close to backing up that rhetoric. With Clinton and Obama you KNOW you are getting a conservative DLC Republicrat, and with Edwards you have a record of voting with the Rightwing neocon agenda challenged ONLY by his apparent "epiphany" that has changed his stripes and softened his heart for the little people. For many of us, apparent Gravel included, "Talk is Cheap", especially during a campaign, and so the voting record becomes the only logical criteria with which to judge the character of a candidate.

5. Unfair !! A lot of sour pessimism.
Obama is NOT absolutely "promising" extreme and immediate change. He IS talking about a new vision of what the country can and should be going forward. What sour pessimism. No one can change the whole world overnight, of course things take time, but what's wonderful about Obama is talking about a good START. I do agree though that Obama needs to get more specific on things and fast. It can't just be lofty rhetoric. That won't cut it. But Obama, NOT Hillary, has the best chance in the general election. Plain and simple.

13. Empowering people. From the guy who walked the walk.
He told the senators in the race to keep bringing up the withdrawal from Iraq bill. Like he did with the draft. Until public opinion gets behind it. They caved instead.

to convince me of Obama, except obama. :D. What you said makes sense though.

and that is the point that gravel made (even though he was referring to edwards/corp america) that getting regular citizens to support you is the only way to make change.

15. He's largely right, unfortunately.
The agenda of the people is far to the left of the powerful, small minority who shape and truly affect the political process.

17. Finally somebody saying what all the pundits should say!
Instead, pundits and the MSM repeat the mantra that the leading top three Democratic candidates will "change" the direction of the country. Even outside the US, otherwise smart and critical thinking intellectuals are under the impression that Clinton, Obama or Edwards will dramatically change US policies.

But as Gravel points out, it's "politics as usual". They are raising their money on Wall Street and then claim they will take on the corporations? Gravel: "Tell me how they're gonna do it. <...> You throw in the word 'change' ten times in a speech..." And people are falling for it. All of them.
