Doncha love the paid liar Snow's quip "Did you check" to see if the Surge™ is working?

Rachel Maddow ran key points of the speech Bush gave a year ago informing us about the Surge™ (which was already underway, thank you very much!) Here's what was to happen....

1) The Iraqi Government will take over security in all provinces in November (of last year)
2) The Iraqi Gov. will pass legislation to share all oil revenues with all Iraqis.
3) The Iraqi Gov. will spend 10 billion on reconstruction, thus creating new jobs.
4) Iraq will hold provincial elections later in the year (last year)
5) They will reform Baathification laws and create a fair process to amend the Iraqi Constitution.

None of that happened. The Surge™ was supposed to create a situation in which all these things would be done. Of course one cannot dictate what another government will do, but even Bush didn't do what he said he would do here in the USA:

6) On advice from Lieberman, a new bipartisan group will be formed to meet and discuss the coming reforms brought about by the Surge™.

By their own benchmarks, the Surge™ has been a complete failure.

Any reduction in violence has been because the insurgency has decided, themselves, to cut back.
