1. I stayed up to watch Letterman tonight because of JRE.
Dave had a good segment with Edwards. I loved the hair-mussing. :)

67. Just that little thing that David did with the hair....
...and making light of it will get some of those voters back that were down on him (obviously unfair to Edwards), but those little things help Edwards....shows he has a sense of humor.

EDWARDS.

7. HEY! I'm jealous.
I want to mess John's hair up too! I think we ought to have a fund drive.

Corral the man someplace and charge $25 (minimum - can give more if desired) to mess up his hair (it gets combed in between mussers). Give the money to the campaign.

11. Hrm...Elizabeth would have to supervise...
... ;)

But I think it could be a fun event. John's hair may be a bit thinner by the time it was over but - eh, it grows back, just ask Elizabeth!

Anyway, just a silly thought. Likely no time for such a thing but it would be a fun way for the campaign to thumb its nose at the stupid haircut flap and to raise money at the same time, wouldn't it?

17. they did seem a bit to start with, but they laughed SO much which is a GREAT SIGN!
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 03:39 AM by themartyred
they weren't very cheery when he came out, like they would have been for Obama or Clinton, but I think once he got going, it eventually came across very, very well - it's gotta be harder going on Letterman than being in a debate when you're a politician... LOL

This honestly is a very important appearance for him, coming off the S.C. Debate victory (CNN talking heads and undecided say he was the best), and he needed to seem like a regular guy and be funny, I think he accomplished that. I wish it would have went a couple minutes longer so he coulda discussed the Iraq Occupation, or the Economy!

He sure made me laugh several times!

WAY TO GO JOHN!

Hillary has NO personality and Obama is a bore and they would have gotten cheers just by announcing them. Because MSM has programmed the sheeple.

22. yeah, notice how the people laughed their butts off as it went on..
I think there might be some sour grapes from some people, which is to be expected, that John did great in the debate last night with the time alloted him (ha), and did very well here being down-to-earth and funny several times...

way to go John! It's pretty clear to see Dave likes him, and Dave did great keeping it moving.

John, Barack, Hillary... None of them have wit. Why is that? McCain has some. Huckabee does as well. Why is that?

Huckster says: "Jesus was too smart to ever run for public office...that's what Jesus would do." --after being asked if Jesus would have supported the death penalty.

Smart.

Straight talkin' JM says: “Never get into a wrestling match with a pig,” Senator John McCain said in New Hampshire this month after reporters asked him about Mr. Romney. “You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.”

Smart.

Why no Wit on the side of compassion? :(

21. John
He came off very real, relaxed, charming, funny, didn't do the usual, scripted "two-jokes-then-lay-the-message-on-them" politician's appearance. You could feel the audience go from wary to loving him. It is just criminal he isn't getting more media time, when he is so damn good on camera.

I also think he was so damn cute!
I hate to sound like a dumb girl, but I sure wouldn't mind looking at him on the news for another 4 years or more!

There is so much going on in the world right now, and we need someone who doesn't just spew ideals one minute and attack others the next. John keeps it CLEAN, he SO resisted the openings that Dave gave him to talk smack about his opponents or Kerry. I think it is a good tell of his CHARACTER!

GO JRE! I am talking more and more about him every day!

This line appears a couple different ways when googled ~ it's the one that popped in my head when Paul played it.

56. Wouldn't you know it...
...Edwards is on for eight to ten minutes with plenty to say about the campaign and the SC primary debate, and the only thing they show on local news is the damn hair messing bit...would have loved to have heard John, in response to Dave's asking if he could 'muss' his hair, with a 'sure, if I can 'muss' yours in return - it won''t come off in my hand, will it?'...then again he probably handled it as well as he could have.

If this is all TV can think about then we are certainly doomed as a nation and will likely have another 'effin' Republican in the WH come next year. When will we wake up and realize that neither Hillary nor Obama can win against virtually any of the Repugs?

75. Why isn't this guy leading?!
Instead, he has to watch as a catfight erupts. WTF.

78. an opportunity for blog activism = the HAIR
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 10:11 PM by stickernation
on another thread, it was revealed that:

* The $400 haircut myth is just that - A MYTH
** JRE was late to a campaign event and his barber had been waiting for him there
** This barber therefore didn't make money from other customers that day
** JRE made up the difference in order to compensate him for the lost income.

This is fundamentally a NOBLE AND ETHICAL ACT, and Rupert Murdoch and the M$M have turned it into a "$400 Haircut Meme".

It is my pleasure to encourage you to use the M$M's catty little haircut emphasis to good use. Their writing about this Letterman event is skewed to emphasize the hair, not the policies. Well I am using these articles to call them to task for their amplification of this particular lie.

I've been commenting on every M$M article about the hair muss event on Letterman about what an abuse of their memetic power this $400 haircut myth has been. I want rats to chew the guts out of those responsible for creating the $400-haircut meme. I am going to make sure that every journalist who has EVER mentioned this meme gets CHEWED OUT FOR IT PERSONALLY.

won't you join me ? :)

84. Perfect pitch. Awesome appearance. How great to have JRE in the White House!
Imagine HIS news conferences. The humor, the grace, the knowledge.

His time is NOW.
