Excellent points. How the hell DID the Dems lose in '04?! As Cenk points out here, it should've been incredibly easy.

NOTE: There are a handful of swears in this video clip, so sensitive ears (doesn't apply to me, but hey) be mindful. Parents, put those headphones on or wait until little Bobby and Suzy are in the other room. Of course we're all adults (I assume) who value free speech, so I don't expect this to be an issue.

PS---If you enjoy progressive content and are tired of the corporate mainstream media election coverage, STOP watching (and supporting) it and watch the BraveNewFilms/TYT election coverage instead. They have fun and informative progressive hosts with tons of great guests (Sam Seder was on for the Iowa coverage) and up to the minute updates on the polls.

If you watch at BraveNewFilms, there is also a great live chat. At the *very* least, you can have the TV on (if you insist ) and do the live chat at your PC!

The new guest list isn't up yet for South Carolina but it will be up later this week (currently it shows the NH list to give you an idea): http://bravenewfilms.org/election

1. WoW! Cenk sure holds nothing back!
I used to listen on Air America. Cenk held back some of the foul language, because he was on broadcast radio. Someone's gonna come by his studio with a bar of soap to wash his mouth out, if he keeps this up!
His point is well made, but he could stand to refrain from the obscenities. Not that I don't use them myself, it just doesn't look good when every fifth word is a four letter word.

WTG Cenk. I wish I could listen, but there isn't enough time in the day. Which is why the AM was perfect. It jump started my day.

2. It's more than worth it
I'm more than willing to hear the occasional swear if it means I get to listen to *honest* progressive talk. If there's one thing I can't stand it's partisan cheerleaders who try to sugarcoat or dismiss any Dem failure as if they were rooting for a local sports team. IMO, certain talk show hosts are in fact just partisan cheerleaders and I can't stomach that.

PS---He generally *doesn't* swear, although he technically can now that he started a New Progressive Web Network with Brave New Films.

The show always started too early for me, so I prefer the 3-5pm EST (and 5-9pm EST post game show). Besides, I podcast it and listen from my MP3 player and use a $20 wireless transmitter to listen in my car.

With the MP3 player I can listen on the commute to and from work, while walking the dog, cleaning around the house, etc. Great way to multi-task rather than always listening to music or only listening to good political talk for short busts when near a radio.

10. Excuse me, I must disagree
Cenk has had to hold back the whole time he was on Air America, whick in my opinion never appreciated him enough. I say F**K refraining from the obscenity. I sincerely hope that doesn't hurt your feelings.

I don't want to say 'get over it', because I consider that to be more abusive than any four-letter word. However: I would suggest you consider the possibility that you place too much weight on the colorful invective.

I think you'll agree that what's OBSCENE is what's been happening in our country the last 8 years.

Again, please know I have no special wish to offend.

12. We should all be swearing like sailors
We should all be so outraged that politeness should be the last thing on our minds.

16. I think the 'obscenities' were what made it great.
He is angry, he is pissed off, so what you expect him to say? "Oooh gosh, oooh darn"? Cenk is *real* in this clip and that's what I admire. Tell it like it is. Why be polite? Has Bush or Cheney been polite?

18. I don't disagree
but I'm guessing more than one person didn't give this a rec precisely because they *didn't* like the obscenities.

21. In my opinion, it's too bad that people can't get over something that trivial.
But I respect yours. :)

3. I agree 100%
Cenk has it figured out. The Democrats either don't really want to win or they are incompetent at running a winning campaign. They're weak and continually refuse to play the kind of hardball necessary to gain the White House and STAY in the White House. John Kerry is one in a long line of LOSER Democratic nominees. Will the Dems fuck it up again this year? I'm afraid that is a very real possiblity. Based on past history, maybe even likely.

4. It Depends
Why, for example, are Hillary and Obama buying into the republican framing of the current/pending economic crisis?

I'm referring to the fact that they're both playing up tax cuts. Tax cuts? Are you kidding me, as if we haven't had enough? No bold plan to create good paying jobs by using that money to invest in say, infrastructure and or alternative energy?

If the Dems insist on pretending to be watered down republicans they're ignoring the fact that people vote for the *actual* republicans more often than not.

9. Tax cuts today are Coolidge's and Hoover's panacea of laissez faire
Things got rough economically in the late '20s, but Hoover refused to intervene. The history books will tell you what happened beginning in the fall of 1929.

Today, if the economy's running rough, give 'em a tax cut. If the economy's humming, give 'em a tax cut.

I've said for a long time we're gonna live to see another depression. NOT RECESSION. Depression. Because we're too stupid to learn from our past mistakes.

5. I agree 99%
First off, Gore won in 2000, but Bush was chosen by the Supremes. Every analysis that's been done of the votes in Florida shows that Gore won. He didn't win by a landslide because WJC couldn't keep his pants zipped during his adminstration, and because Ralph Nader had enough votes in some states that it tipped the balance to the GOP.

In 2004, I agree, Kerry ran a shitty campaign. He didn't address the Swift Boaters swiftly or effectively, and he didn't contest the voter intimidation and irregularities in Ohio.

I agree with Cenk, although I think that Edwards has the potential of running a winning campaign. With Clinton and Obama, it seems like deja vu all over again. It's not enough to be right. You have to be persuasive.

7. I love him
I'm just as pissed as he is and I'd like to hear him comment on the 2006 disaster. We finally get back both houses of congress, and they do absolutely nothing that they promised during the election. No impeachment, not even a slowing down of the war, a blank check to every fundie nutcase Bushit appointed...........ARGHHHHH! Thats going to hurt us alot this year whether people want to admit it or not.

Here is a Youtube clip of a dem ranting about FISA and Pelosi/Reid. Just skip to 6:45 of that video and you will see the mood of millions of angry dems including mine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFXp4HwCfp8&NR=1

We can still lose this election big. How are dems who won in very close districts supposed to go home this year and act like they changed ANYTHING?

to the TYT/BNF South Carolina election coverage this Saturday simulcast at www.theyoungturks.com and www.bravenewfilms.org/election (BNF also has a great live chat which can work even for people who insist on having the corporate tv coverage on).

8. Actually they did not lose. they just did not win By enough to cover points.
Politics with the Republicans and BUSH CO has become like betting in LAS VEGAS. Yes I'll TAKE the DEM's to win but if they don't win by at least 500, 000 votes then the Rep's still get the pay off. the dems just have to count for much more bush cheating than the are use too. He's picked up his GAME. HE's the MAN when it comes to FUCKING with the CONSTITUTION.

So if we want the democrats to take the white house they need to take every important district by a cheat margin.

it's a new BUSH Co. parameter we will have to reflect in all our future elections.

So who wants to bet?

11. Cenk nails it again k/r
Very few people can say it for me like Cenk. I'm still pissed off about not being able to hear him in the mornings. Air America screwed up again.

Dave Bonior ought to consult with Cenk. I'll bet he could throw some fire into the Edwards campaign.

17. That's what I was thinking all along!
Why don't they use that clip?? If Clinton, Gore or Kerry had said anything like that, don't you think the Republicans would air it over and over and over again?

Just play this clip, where Bush laughs about Bin Laden and says he doesn't think often about him, six months after 9/11. Play nothing else. Just this clip. Every week, every day, every hour. Over and over again.

19. I totally agree with Cenk
if you're not pissed off, you're not paying attention. Unfortunately most of the people I run into in my daily life are not paying attention. We were briefly talking about Super Tuesday at lunch and only one other person had any idea about the candidates (or was willing to admit it!)
