This is being e-mailed around to potential Hillary voters in southern states. An Obama campaign staffer just alerted me to it.

31. I am curious what you find disgusting about civil rights?
You sound like a white southerner circa 1952

5. Definitely. Only white people should appear in Hillary videos.
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 02:20 PM by wtmusic
Or maybe that would be "playing the race card"!! Yikes.

Ok, how about this: equal numbers of whites, blacks, browns, pinks, yellows, oranges, and greens. All the same size.

Or maybe she should just dismiss the civil rights movement as being unimportant.

are always white - therefore he is appealing to the whites in SC.:eyes:
Some people think a candidate has a copyright on some voters/issues.
When it comes to civil rights Obama "isn't that invested in the fights of the 60s and the 70s". But the Clintons were. Which is why this is a good ad.

6. Reminding people of their bona fides in civil rights? Nothing wrong with it
I liked this commercial. Are you saying they have to ignore segments of the population because some other candidate feels entitled to it?

It's what this ad accomplishes.

12. Are we sure this is a Clinton campaign commercial?
I thought that campaign commercials required a disclaimer indicating who paid for and authorized it.

Did your friend give you the actual email? And is this on the Clinton campaign website somewhere?

Here is her Video page from her website:

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/video/

Here is her YouTube page:

http://youtube.com/hillaryclinton

Can anyone find it on either page?

17. It's clearly a dirty trick by one of the campaigns...
But it's unclear which one is behind it. I have two theories. 1) The Clinton camp did it, but in such a way as to keep their distance if it got hot. 2) The Obama campaign did it, to make it look like the Clinton's were making a cheap appeal to race.

Either way, I got it from an Obama staffer, so take from that what you will.

24. Your OP claims it is a Hillary Cllinton ad, now you say you dont know.
I would suggest you adjust the language in your OP to reflect the reality that you dont know who is behind it, tho the fact, according to you, that an Obama staffer sent it to you might be a clue.

21. Another Rove mailing
You guys are nuts if you think the Clintons are behind this. What? Were you born yesterday? Do you know anything about the Clintons other than rightwing talking points?

I'm sitting here in the South and still haven't gotten this little Rove creation in my inbox.

That's because I'm actually on the Hillary Clinton mailing list, not the born yesterday mailing list.

Geez people...you've got to come out of the stone age and stop with the deceitful BS!!

Funny how you 'claimed' this is being e-mailed around to voters in the south when I have plenty of Hillary fans as friends and NONE of them received this so-called e-mail.

You people are making Karl Rove so proud =(

Absolutely pathetic!

And the rest of you falling for this tactic hook line & sinker ought to be both embarrassed and ashamed

Obama staffer informed you...hmmm... can we say BS?

25. Excuse me (newbie here)
What exactly is wrong with informing people that you were active in the civil rights movement?
Having only been on this site actively for the last couple of days, I am absolutely dumbfounded by the amount on infighting that is going on here. This does not bode well at all for the democratic party.
Can't we all just get along?

28. This is not from Clinton OR Obama...
This ad comes from the REPUBLICAN national party.... They want to divide and conquer us, can't you see through this? It has all the elements of the divide and conquer aspect in it. If you can't see this as an attempt by some GOPer to divide our party, because they have NO candidate, you are truly naive!

35. i think they have some nerve
didn't she make the comment that dr king only dreamed but it took a president to do something? she negated all of those people's in the pictures contribution to the civil rights movement. i don't care who made the commercial, it rings quite hollow after her comments. it only served to remind me and raise my hankles all over again. maybe that was someones intention. it worked i am pissed all over again. doing a ceremonial (photo op) march in honor of dr king certainly doesn't impress me. just tell me what you are going to do about: the economy, health-care, education and legal system disparities and the #1 get us out of iraq. just the facts-presidential hopefuls.

36. It's a scam... and the video just doesn't make sense...
I would hate to think that such a video would be created by rivals in the democratic party. The video itself just looks so homemade. Aside from that, it does not even make sense. I don't care how much a candidate tries to pander, no one would create anything so transparent and then expect carte blanche support from one's aides in releasing it.

People, anyone can download software and make a video like this.

Also, the addition of "Amazing Grace" made it all the more nauseating (in the sense that it was meant to 'tug at the heart strings') and transparent.
