Bush is a quack ~ there is no "cure" for autism

This money would be better spent on finding THE CAUSE of autism
(however, the Canadians already did:

and as compensation to autistics due to mercury contamination from coal-fired plants while their mothers were pregnant, and from vaccines with therimosal while they were infants:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/12/20061219-3.html

"For the millions of Americans whose lives are affected by autism, today is a day of hope. The Combating Autism Act of 2006 will increase public awareness about this disorder and provide enhanced federal support for autism research and treatment. By creating a national education program for doctors and the public about autism, this legislation will help more people recognize the symptoms of autism. This will lead to early identification and intervention, which is critical for children with autism. I am proud to sign this bill into law and confident that it will serve as an important foundation for our Nation s efforts to find a cure for autism."

- President George W. Bush, 12/19/06

1. More money for his good friends in the pharmaceutical business!
Pharmaceutical profits are for marketing and multi-million dollar executive bonuses, not research...

And when you do get someone else to pay for research, the only acceptable solutions involve patents and an expensive pills. God forbid you propose something like cleaning up the environment!

3. For some reason I don't feel cynical for once.
Maybe it is another petty money ploy and we're made to feel all warm fuzzy smilies and such, but anything they can do to limit its effects or cure it, or even working on reducing mercury pollution and such, I'm all for it.

Somebody ought to do a poll of NTs and Autistics and see what the overall consensus is...

4. I hope it goes to the autistics , HypnoToad !
They have been studying this to death, and now there is irrefutable evidence from Canada that mercury is the cause. The lab rat days are over. It is time to compensate the autistics !
