I am putting this in here also..because it is so much about jobs and getting people back to work..

-- seems to also have turned a corner from the relentless mantra of "Do you think we're heading for a "double-dip"/"What do you think, are we in for a "double-dip?"/"What are your thoughts on a possible "double-dip" -- to more of a -- "Look, the economy is recovering slowly and steadily/"We're in a slow and steady recovery"/"What we see out there is an economy that is slowly recovering...."

The biz channels are still pushing the "uncertainty, uncertainty, uncertainty" angle, though. It seems to be this year's "government-takeover-of-healthcare" catchword.

I was just listening to SOS Clinton.. and the move by the Palestinians and Israelis to meet every 2 weeks and we are butting out trying to impose our style and partnering up to let them figure it out themselves

That and some positive moves in the Financial data..Whoa.. there has been a change in the winds.. :)

....while listening to the C-SPAN callers after Pres. Obama's Tuesday speech on the combat mission ending in Iraq.

I was stunned to go along a half-hour or so listening to the Democratic, Republican and Independent lines... and not one word of batpoop-crazy hate-on for Obama. Just respectful comments about how the callers agreed with Obama, and how they were thanking him for keeping his word about ending the combat mission when he said he would. It was a rare, rare moment for me when it felt like this country was united across the board as Americans, just Americans. (Of course, I do recall *one* wha-? type of call from what sounded like a teenager reading from a tea party manifesto).

And watching the Middle East peace effort press conference yesterday, I'm now more hopeful for it to work than I even was two days ago. This great photo is currently over at CSPAN:



(As an aside, is Hillary looking gorgeous these days, or what? Have never seen her looking so...happy.) :)

Sorry to say I met someone on the other side today, at small, informal Indian/Paki restaurant, in Montgomery County, MD! My friend noticed someone he'd met before, a church type with psych experience, middle-age+. She is about to leave for Honduras (I think) to 'minister' to pregnant young women. We sat with her and her companion/husband(?) and chatted about meaning of 'ministry.' My friend is Paki, and often searches for meaning of 'Murican' words/concepts. He also DOES minister, whether he knows it or not; at his Unit church, they call it Social Justice.

Somehow, the couple we chatted with mentioned 'illegal' immigrants, and he mentioned not liking anything Prez O had done. My friend was rather astonished! and tried to engage in further discussion. I informed them that Prez has/is providing large number of officers at the border; they were not aware of this. They left shortly thereafter, so no chance to engage in more extensive discussion, which I hope would have enabled us to provide some FACTS!

it is not possible.. and this is much more logical.. and the result of good decisions that went before..

working for a 1st and 2nd tier auto industry supplier I know that the manufacturing sector has been holding off hiring while working the reduced staffs ridiculous hours. They are now at the point of diminishing returns and are being forced to recall laid off workers and hire new workers.

Hiring is a lagging indicator of a recovery and this is indeed a good sign.
