It’s Obama’s Party Now

June 4th, 2008 by Ron Chusid

As nominee, Barack Obama is now leader of the Democratic Party. We can expect to see him quickly take control of the party mechanism, which will be directed towards the election of Barack Obama and other Democrats running down ticket. There’s one early sign of this at the Democratic National Committee’s web site. There is no doubt there as to who the nominee is. (Hat tip to Talking Points Memo).

1. That's Portland
Did we do good or what.

It cracks me up when they say McCain has a chance in Oregon. I don't know who they're polling. lol.

2. Current projections mean little
I think the media likes to make the presidential contest appear more wide open than it is, especially early. Maybe they are partially motivated by ratings, figuring that people in contested states might be more likely to pay attention to them. As we get closer to November the number of states labeled as competitive will drop down.

By the way, have you checked out the work of our former co-blogger lately? Pamela had a nasty link to one of my posts yesterday complaining that Obama supporters such as me were still having negative posts on Clinton. From such a line you would think that would mean she was showing total party unity on her blog. Of course it actually goes one way. After she had her link to my post I read thru some of the posts and comments over there. While I'm not supposed to have anything negative on Clinton, Democratic Daily remains full of talk about how Obama stole the nomination (in Michigan, Florida, and even Texas), about how nasty a campaign he ran (sort of backwards there), and how we need the Democrats in Congress and Clinton to keep Obama from giving everything away to the Republicans. There's also lots of other nonsense there bashing Obama. While Pamela does say she will vote for Obama (despite all her negative comments on him) many others there say they will vote for McCain or not vote. I guess they want the return of shirt hanger abortions.

3. It makes me so proud
knowing he's got strong support in my home state. I only wish I would have been able to be there for that rally. What a party I missed!

4. I read that he's already put his folks into key positions in the DNC
and thank goodness for that!
