I know the representatives, too, Rocky Anderson, and Ehren Watada's mom and dad, but I wasn't sure about the guy from the UK, the African-American guy with the capitol building, the Iraqi dude and a few others. I should have carried a little notebook with me to write them down as they were introduced.

Yes, you missed me. I didn't march with DU but kind of went my own way so I could get more pictures. I was at the Hawk & Dove Friday night, though. Were you? Too tired for socializing Saturday night.

I just have a habit of calling everybody dude, regardless of gender. Sorry! :)

We hung out with the DU crowd during the speeches, but went our own way during the march. We were only in D.C. from about 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday, so we missed the pre and post socializing...

Did you hear the estimates of this little rally? Most talking heads said 10's of thousands showed up; Tony Snowjob claimed less than 100,000. What do you estimate (I know it's tough to do, especially when you're on the ground in the midst of it all)?

but I think definitely more than 100,000. My conservative guess would be somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000, but it's so hard to tell since we weren't all in a line. I read somewhere though that we completely encircled the capitol, so maybe someone with more knowledge of DC could guess from that.

Medea Benjamin, Jesse Jackson, et al, hit that corner and made a speech that their goal had been accomplished. There I remained for the next hour or two and watch the masses coming down the hill. Really impressive! I've heard 500,000 from several sources, but I guess we'll never really know.

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you, I got in on Saturday morning, so I missed the Friday night meet-up.

That was cool that you got up close and personal.

Will take more time to check them out later when I am not on deadline, but so far, I like the Sean Penn photo, the kid eating a sandwich, the tall Uncle Sam and his hand movement and the reflective Vietnam Veteran wall.

I recorded the re-airing from c-span, however, I didn't record the first airing and cspan said they would re-air the whole event, but they did not. :cry:

I just finished viewing all your pics and they are FABULOUS!!!

I have a favor to ask of you. Since I was unable to attend, I have been asking other fellow DUers who went and posted their pics if I could get permission to use some of the pics in my comic blog or my video.

Almost all that I asked have given their blessings. I published 6 pages and the very first one was pics downloaded from yahoo. It would mean so much more to me, however, if they were done by people I converse with here.
You can check out my blog to see what I've done so far. Plan on adding to it, when I can squeeze in more time between all my projects I have going at the present time.

Even though my SmugMug account is a "professional" one, I really wasn't expecting that people would be buying any of these so any more exposure you want to give them would be fine with me. What kind of camera do you have?

The close-ups of the speakers I took with my best Christmas present, the 70-200L f/2.8 lens, which, although it seems to weigh about 20 pounds, was well worth lugging around. The amount of clarity was really astounding.

I can't think of anyone better to represent our state in DC, and am SO glad you got to go. The photos are wonderful (everyone be sure to check out the ones at smugmug, they're sweet!).

Thank you so much for posting. It's really cool that you were able to get so close to the speakers - from my vantage point I could hear them, but that's about it. Beautiful work.
