DU Panic Room

That's a DU support group that someone had established a while back, and apparently unconnected with DU. Primarily, it handles messages when DU is down, and frequently EXPLODES when that happens (even momentarily). Many describe themselves as ADDICTS of DU (my own category) and frequently use mock AA-jargon to describe their plight ("My name is XXXX, and I'm ..........").

Here's an extract from a recent message there: "I wish Skinner or someone would come here when it goes down unexpectedly and let us know what's going on!"

I wish someone could be designated to send the panic room a message to let us know why DU is down and when it's expected back up.

But I see where another DUer had supplied the correct URL. It's monitored fairly frequently, and pretty well. So far, there's been NO spam attacks.

There's also a poster there who had been BANNED from DU a while back. I don't know the details, but I strongly suspect that it was for trivial reasons. Consider that Forum also as a necessary check & balance to any arbitrary actions of the Moderators.

Reading in silence is okay, but posting there, would make your full email address open to view. That would probably be fine with most here, but it might be a problem for a few.

...special for the DU panic room. those DUers near and dear to my heart already know my real email address and i thought it might not be a good idea to show that email address to the world. i'm not well liked in freeper circles i imagine. i could do without the excessive hate mail from those tards.

I'll be looking for more, but hope that really WON'T be necessary (DU going down, that is). You all know my 'handle' by now.

(I'm on another forum with a different screen name and email address, and the panic room had the same email address as that one, but not anymore.)

is a member here. There is a short lag-time for membership, but once you are in, bookmark the site and use it whenever DU is unavailable.

The moderator(s) do amazing work keeping the site on topic, and will not tolerate disruptors, and for that alone, makes the site very worthwhile.

it's a haven during these very disturbing times during a downtime here.
