What we've been missing
in all the flurry regarding Cindy Sheehan - we've been missing something and I would like to bring it up before it completely disappears into a memory hole.

Monica Goodling's testimony brought up the issue of Vote Caging, be it ignorance or disinterest the committee members didn't go into it more during the testimony, and for the most part the MSM has completely ignored it. Goodling specifically mentioned Tim Griffin as being involved with this, and as we know Griffin is a Rove-bot.

Prior to Goodling's testimony, Greg Palast was reported to have over 500 e-mails which indicates one form or another of "rigging" the votes - caging included. At the time of the original posts - many here asked what was Palast going to do with the emails.

Palast was on Air America Radio yesterday, (Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartman shows). He said he was meeting with Conyers regarding the emails, which also include the emails that Rove says are "missing".

Vote caging is illegal under the Voting Rights Act, and as of the 1980's there is a specific injuction against the Republican party prohibiting them from using caging tactics.

This is a biggie folks and the inter-tubes should be burning up with this topic. The foundation of any democracy is the sanctity of the right of citizens to vote, to determine the direction of OUR country.

The other news which has gone under reported by the MSM is Comey's testimony regarding the midnight visit by Gonzales and Card to an ailing Ashcroft. According to Comey - of the phone calls to Ashcroft's hospital room was one directly from Bush. This means BUSH was personally involved with arranging the midnight visit.

before I'm completely flamed for any perceived slights regarding Cindy Sheehan - let me say this: She began by asking a simple question: for what purpose did my son die. That simple question started a movement. For better or worse she became the face of the movement. It's been a long battle for her and she has my utmost admiration for her dedication and determination to get the answer to her simple question. I support whatever decision she may make regarding her future involvment.

2. and we still don't know why
Casey and the 3,500 others have died, nor the 10's of thousands of Iraqi's have died, nor the 10's of thousands of our troops/Iraqi's have been wounded, nor the billions of dollars being spent

it won't change unless we vote, but our votes won't count as long as the republicans are allowed to manipulate, twist and subvert our system.

3. Focus On The Issues Not The Personalities!

When one allows the focus to be on the messenger rather than the message, one loses! Keep the focus on the issues and one wins.

Allow the focus to become the person and one is lost.

6. Caging
it's the practice of sending registered mail to minority voters, asking for a reply, and if one doesn't come back, the voter's right to vote is challenged either at the polls, or attempts are made to remove them from the voter rolls --- usually without their knowledge. Letters were said to have been sent to U.S. troops who were away, serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, and thus did not (and could not) answer the registered mail.

another story the meida is ignoring (except the NYT) is the catastrophic Iraqi refugee crisis that is further destabilizing the ME and a symbol of Iraq as a failed state.

17. Caging list is what got mailed to parody site?
I remember when it happened, but didn't realize what it was. Big oops there, eh?

(per wiki) The BBC reports that it has obtained a document from George W. Bush's Florida campaign headquarters, inadvertently e-mailed to the parody website GeorgeWBush.org, containing a list of 1,886 names and addresses of voters in largely African-American and Democratic areas of Jacksonville. Democratic Party officials allege that the document is a "caging list" that the Bush campaign intends to use to issue mass challenges to African-American voters, in violation of federal law

18. yes, the list we know about
although I haven't read anything about other caging lists - I haven't discounted the HIGH probability that they exist and were used in more places than just Florida
