Can't Go to Live Earth Concert? NBC Networks to air almost wall to wall Coverage of Concerts.
I'm hoping for something as cool as the Vote For Change Tour Concert in DC in 2004 that aired on Sundance, because that was pretty cool if you couldnt go.

Nine venues around the globe will host more than 100 artists on Saturday, July 7.

NBC and its various cable outlets will be broadcasting live and taped coverage of Live Earth nearly the entire day -- starting at 4 a.m. ET, when Universal HD and the Sundance Channel (which is partly owned by NBCU) kick off 22 hours each of live broadcasts. Bravo will feature 18 hours of live and taped footage, and NBC will devote all of its prime-time schedule that night to a special hosted by Carson Daly and Ann Curry, featuring highlights from the day and some live acts from the concert at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

Telemundo, CNBC and MSNBC will also turn over large blocks of their schedules that day to Live Earth.

"By leveraging all of our properties, we will reach millions of viewers with this important call to action to combat global warming, while offering our audiences an incredible entertainment experience from today's biggest artists," says Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal Cable.

Concerts will take place in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Istanbul, London, Johannesburg, Sydney and Hamburg, Germany, in addition to Giants Stadium. Scheduled performers include The Police, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kelly Clarkson, Bloc Party, Linkin Park, Kanye West, Melissa Etheridge, Ludacris and the Foo Fighters.

1. That's great news. Now if only one of the satellite radio networks would pick it up like
they did with Live 8.

2. So we can all be a part of it
We can feel like One Big Happy Family. Just like the 60s, like it's one big Love-In.

Then we can forget all about it.

Bangla-who?

No wonder Bob Geldof was warning Al Gore about the pitfalls of charity concerts. The good news, though, is that I think that Al is planning a little more follow-up than did Sir Bob.
