I learned a new word during the Spelling Bee-Kakistocracy
Kakistocracy-government by the worst men in the state.

This is my new favorite word. Who knew we were living in a Kakistocracy?

1. Keep this going.....
maybe instead of using the asterisk when referencing bushco, we can just use a K.

5. I'm down with that.
When I was little I used to call the asterisk a "star," and Bush is certainly no star. Plus, if you put three of those K's together, it seems to accurately describe this administration's mindset...

2. By God it is a word just like you said
What a perfect word!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kakistocracy
Kakistocracy, rule by the least-able or least-principled of citizens, is a form of government in which the people least qualified to control the government are the people who control the government.

The origin of this word is Greek, derived from the superlative of the Greek adjective kakos (bad), the superlative form being kakistos (worst).

14. The Spanish word "caca" means something a bit
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 10:33 AM by tblue37
more gentle, like "poo-poo." Mierda has the stronger nuance of "shit."

4. It is quite appropriate, isn't it?
:hi: I can think of several other words to describe this government, but "kakistocracy" is one of the few suitable for polite company.

16. They get to pick their words?
I have no idea how this works but, yeah, a kid from Madtown would totally do that on purpose.

18. the brief segment I saw was an interview with her
and they asked her what her favorite word was (or something similar), so she picked kakocracy. I don't believe it was during the contest itself.

Government by those who worship the theft of public goods by the worst elements in society.

What's the simple term for that? Privatization.

17. I knew it
I learned the word kakistocracy in the eighties.

At that time, I joked it was synonymous with Nixonian democracy. Now I would call it something else.
