George Allen's back, as leader of the PAC

By WARREN FISKE, The Virginian-Pilot
© June 1, 2007

RICHMOND - Former U.S. Sen. George Allen is returning to the political fray for the first time since his jarring defeat for re-election last November.

Allen said Thursday he is forming a political action committee, called the Good Government Action Fund, to help Republican candidates in this fall's General Assembly races.

"It's a way to keep to advocating the principles and ideas I advocated when I was governor and senator," Allen said.

He plans to raise money for GOP candidates and traverse the state campaigning for them.

Allen said the PAC should not be interpreted as a signal that he plans to run for statewide office again. He is often mentioned as a possible gubernatorial candidate in 2009.

"I've made no decisions about my own future," he said. "This isn't about me."

1. Take out one of the "o"s in the first word of the PAC name
and you'll have what George Allen will be targeting as the 'fundamental base' of support.

11. That's all I could think of was the old Shangri-las song.
LEADER OF THE PACK
(G. Morton - J. Barry - Ellie Greenwich)
THE SHANGRI-LAS (RED BIRD 10014, 1964)

Is she really going out with him?
Well, there she is. Let's ask her
Betty, is that Jimmy's ring you're wearing?
Mm-hmm
Gee, it must be great riding with him
Is he picking you up after school today?
Uh-uh
By the way, where'd you meet him?

I met him at the candy store
He turned around and smiled at me
You get the picture? (yes, we see)
That's when I fell for (the leader of the pack)

My folks were always putting him down (down, down)
They said he came from the wrong side of town
(whatcha mean when ya say that he came from the wrong side of town?)
They told me he was bad
But I knew he was sad
That's why I fell for (the leader of the pack)

One day my dad said, find someone new
I had to tell my Jimmy we're through
(whatcha mean when ya say that ya better go find somebody new?)
He stood there and asked me why
But all I could do was cry
I'm sorry I hurt you (the leader of the pack)

He sort of smiled and kissed me goodbye
The tears were beginning to show
As he drove away on that rainy night
I begged him to go slow
But whether he heard, I'll never know

Look out! Look out! Look out! Look out!

I felt so helpless, what could I do?
Remembering all the things we'd been through
In school they all stop and stare
I can't hide the tears, but I don't care
I'll never forget him (the leader of the pack)

The leader of the pack - now he's gone
The leader of the pack - now he's gone
The leader of the pack - now he's gone
The leader of the pack - now he's gone

10. Bring it on!
I'm training my parrot & he can shoot for distance & cuss you out at the same time.

By the way, former Senator Bigot meant to add an "E" at the end of the first word in the PAC name, I'm sure. :puke:

14. Yep.
My dad and I laughed our heads off when we found out Jim Gilmore was running for President - who does he think he is, anyway? I live in an extremely conservative area of VA, and even the most hardcore Republicans remember how Gilmoron screwed us over...and they hate his guts for it. Hopefully, Allen will go down the same road to obscurity. :hi:

15. Why didn't he go into details?
"It's a way to keep to advocating the principles and ideas I advocated when I was governor and senator," Allen said. "You know, like making fun of another person based on their race, calling them a racist name then denying the word was racist in the first place even though it comes from a language that's part of your heritage, etc."

21. I just met an aide to Jim Webb
He's the nephew of a golfing buddy of mine and he was in the clubhouse when we finished playing. I didn't know my friend had a nephew who was so close to Webb, but when I learned he was one of his aides I told him I LOVE the man and was happy to have voted for him last Fall. He smiled really big and said it was rare to meet a Democrat in my neck of the woods. We just laughed and I said (really loud) I'm a proud Democrat and a flaming liberal. The looks on the faces of those who could hear me were priceless.

Anyway, I told him I was so happy that Webb sent Allen packing and this lady chimed in saying Allen was a great guy. I told her Allen was as corrupt as could be and the state is better off without him. Webb's aide then affirmed what I said and agreed that Allen has done some pretty shady things. Cha Ching! Made my day! He also said there's a steady rumor that Allen may make a bid for the governorship again. Shit.

23. Too cool!
Democrats are pretty rare in my neck of the woods, too (rural Shenandoah Valley), but I've seen more Webb bumper stickers than I expected around here. :) Maybe things are looking up? (Then again, if Allen is thinking about running for governor again, maybe not so much. Ugh.) Anyway, that's really cool that you met one of Webb's aides! Jim Webb seems to be a really great guy...and I'm definitely glad I voted for him. (Not that I would've even considered voting for that ratfink Allen for half a second, lol...but still.) :hi: Peace.

27. You are being kind.
They're getting their asses handed to them.

Allen is going to try for John Warners Senate seat when Warner retires.

Unfortunately for Georgie, so is Mark Warner.

There is a lot more in Allen's past then the Macaca moment, don't think it will not be brought "out of the closet", as it were.
