It's a private matter but it's sleazy. The guy was his friend. He has his pick of gorgeous women, he could have resisted temptation. But then he was going through his divorce, so perhaps he wasn't using best judgment.

of politicians in Europe to make the news at all. They all have mistresses but no one cares. Many people didn't even know what Mrs. Berlusconi looked like because politicians' wives and their sexual transgressions aren't that interesting to the electorate, at least not the way they are obsessed over here in the U.S. What I mean to say, and the way CNN was reporting it this morning, is that the fact that it is news at all in Italy is itself the big news story.

he's the mayor of a major American city, has often been talked about as a candidate for higher office, he achieved national fame during the gay marriage situation a few years ago.

Two minutes of national coverage seems about right. It's a story of interest. Doesn't deserve, nor did it get, major coverage.
