Michael Reagan: 'Dying' US troops do 'such a fabulous job'
Conservative talk-show host Michael Reagan on MSNBC's Scarborough Country

"If I was there with the president of the United States,
know what I'd tell him? I'd tell him shut off the press,
let the military go do what it does best, kill people and break things. ...

Give them some positive news about what these soldiers are doing that are fighting.
Yes, they are dying, but they are doing such a fabulous job ..."

Reagan's statement is about 2 mins in the clip.

2. Did Scarborough even ask him why? Why should the military kill people and break things?
Are there no morals at all for Republicans? Innocent people should be killed and countries destroyed simply because that's what our military does best? Then why not let them do it on our shores?

22. "Kill people and break things" is an old phrase
The point is that you should only use the military when you need to kill people and/or break things because that's all the military is actually competent at (well, that and building the Internet). AFAIK the phrase became popular during the Vietnam conflict when people were suggesting (rightly, IMO), that soldiers and Marines shouldn't be expected to "win hearts and minds" because that is a diplomat's job; the soldier has been trained to fight and if you don't need someone to fight, don't send soldiers.

15. no, he has not. hisradio show's tagline is "keeping the tradition alive.'
what a crock when Reagan himself met his OWN SON at a college graduation and DID NOT RECOGNIZE him!
he had to INTRODUCE himself for God's sake.
and this was, supposedly, long before the Alzheimer's/

Isn't the press doing exactly that? FABULOUS!

the other side?" :banghead: I guess he hasn't been paying very close attention because every day we hear of about a hundred or so Iraqi's that have been killed in bombings or executions.

17. Here are some excerpts from Reagan's diaries about Michael:
I was perusing the book at Barnes & Noble and made some notes.

Monday, Nov. 19, 1984 (Pg. 281)
One other sour note on Thanksgiving. Had to do with Mike R. He blew up at something on TV news based on an interview Nancy had given. He called me & when I tried to straighten him out he screamed at me about having been adopted & hung up on me.

Monday, November 26, 1984
To top the day off I called Mike R. We talked for half an hour & I'm more than ever convinced that he has a real emotional problem that is making him paranoid.

Thursday, November 29
Another call from Mike. he is a really disturbed young man. I've contacted his minister & believe maybe we can get through to Mike.

This was from a time when they were speaking to one another. I've read from other sources that earlier, Michael was once accused by the Secret Service of stealing knick-knacks from the White House and had been banished. Ronnie and Nancy didn't even meet Mike's child till she was 3 years old. That took place just after these diary entries.

7. An open invitation to every hard bitten gunnery sergeant, drill instructor....
...and other hard asses currently serving. Find this waste of a zygote and beat his candy-ass, jelly belly into a uniform then hand him a rifle, with blanks, and tell him to stand a watch in Fallujah. Bet the little bastard soils his pants.

23. It's a well-known phrase whose meaning he has reversed
People use the "kill people and break things" phrase to point out that soldiers and Marines aren't very good at passing out sacks of grain and teaching children how to read; you need diplomats and aid workers for that, so you shouldn't send soldiers and Marines to do diplomats' and aid workers' jobs.

He, however, has reversed it, and is saying since we have soldiers and Marines there we shouldn't do anything with diplomats and aid workers.

That wretched excuse for Reagan's FAKE progeny came on while I was making dinner.

Later on, he got very proud of himself--he could hardly contian his glee. UGH.

"Yes, they are dying, but they are doing such a fabulous job."

Every time he opens his mouth, Michael Reagan proves that he's a soulless pig.

24. Katrina was out-gunned.
Reagan kept interrupting her and Joe didn't intercede. I don't think she's the best one to deal with somebody as utterly bizarre and insane as Michael Reagan (or Bortz, Savage, Beck, etc.) Franken or Seder would have been better. But Stewart or Colbert would have been more appropriate. Reagan is all show business, and Katrina is a journalist and political scientist. Mismatch.

21. Reagan's logic is impeccable...
The job of the military is to kill people and break things. That's true.

Killing people? -- Check!

Breaking things? -- Check!

Therefore -- they are doing a **FABULOUS** job!

Yes, Michael Reagan is quite damaged. He is the proverbial person who only has a hammer in his tool kit. And not the sharpest hammer at that.
