Only 3% of Americans support sending more troops to Iraq
Submitted by Canada IFP on Sat, 2007-06-02 04:06.Americas | Asia | Iran | United States | News

Only 3% of all Americans support sending more troops to Iraq while a solid majority want troops brought back home, according to the latest Gallup poll.

1,007 national adults were asked the question "If you could talk with President Bush for fifteen minutes about the situation in Iraq, what would you, personally, advise him to do?"

54% wanted to tell Bush to focus on an exit strategy, while 6% percent wanted Bush to apologise for his mistakes. A further 7% wanted the President to work with the United Nations to end the violence in Iraq.

Overall only 25% wanted Bush to "stay the course", including the 3% who wanted to tell the President to send more troops to Iraq.

But President Bush was adamant that his decision to invade Iraq was not a mistake.

"I think the people will look back 50 years from now and say, oh, I understand now why they were doing what they were doing, because democracies and liberties help yield peace," President Bush told reporters. "I won't let politics get in the way of making important decisions to help achieve the mission. In other words, we won't let their loved one die in vain. You can look back on any war, and determine whether or not certain tactics could be changed, but the strategic decision, removing Saddam Hussein, was the right decision."

8. Whose "mission" is he referring to? The American's? The Iraqi's?
The Iraqis want us out their country. The Americans want us out of Iraq. Most of the rest of the world wants Americans out of Iraq.

The same goes for the "we" in "we won't let their loved ones die in vain." How is anyone with an IQ above that of carrot going to be convinced that their "loved ones" didn't die in vain in a war lost within days on it's initiation?

Even a cursory glance at Iraq or the United States since the war started belies any notion that it has done anything other than make things worse for all involved..save the defense industry and corporate America.

He's a pathetic little frat-boy still dreaming of a win in the "Big Game".
