BAGHDAD - Three Iraqi children died when a US tank opened fire on suspected insurgent bombers in the western city of Fallujah, the US military reported on Saturday.

A tank crew observed Friday three men that appeared to be installing a roadside bomb on the side of a highway southeast of the restive city and opened fire with its main gun. The men escaped and three children were found dead.

“Civilians in the area reported two children, ages seven and nine, were killed by a blast in the area by the canal,” said the statement.

“A third, age 11, was transported by civilians to the Jordanian hospital nearby but later succumbed to his wounds.”

1. At this point it is a no win situation for our military folks....
The live kids could have been used for cover by the insurgents or the kids were already dead and planted either way.....it's makes the US look like child killers....

For the folks from the Vietnam era....wasn't the killing of children one of the major catalyst of the anti-war movement?

Sigh...
