legal and law enforcement resources we have in this freakin' country, why the fuck can't we build a rock-solid, open-and-shut case against these assholes and IMPEACH for God's sake! Why does it have to take a year? Do it in half that time! This a NATIONAL GODDAMN EMERGENCY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I live in a pretty conservative town and from what I can see - most everyone wants this thing fixed and now.
When the check out guy at the store yells to me as I'm leaving the store - I am ashamed to be an American - the only ones holding down this debacle are most of our politicians. The people are fed up.

Half of the Senate is occupied by die-hard loyalists who'd never vote to convict. And we would need some of them to get that conviction.

Without a conviction, it would be like saying "not guilty" and it would make the Dems look bad in the process.
Not bringing it to the Senate would be like a dismissal which would be just as bad.

Reality sucks, doesn't it?

If the People's consensus is to impeach, those die-hard loyalists SHOULD BE DEFERRING TO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

We're back to consensus. If the consensus is to impeach, and the Dems do indeed impeach, there's no looking bad to worry about.

10. You don't understand REAL politics
REAL politics means projected TV ratings count for more than just actual votes, silly things.

REAL politics means not having a position too different to the opposing team because it opens the possibility of fundamentally questioning "policy". That would be A Bad Thing, and unAmerican.

REAL politics isn't about silly things like "policy", it's about getting the right airtime, vaguely sympathetic-to-neutral-to-non-overcondemnatory coverage, and decent ratings.

REAL politics is about fielding star players who may have been pretty useless in the past but now promise to be visionary, incisive & accurate in foresight and totally correct in policymaking.

So let's get REAL! Enough of this divisive "results" talk!

in that paragraph we are also informed it is our DUTY to take responsibilty. I had a very wise eigth grade social studies teacher who required us to memorize and recite before the class certain important historial pieces. This was one and another the Gettysburg Address. It's something we need to be reminded of so thank you for posting this. K&R
