Hillary's other Man (Bernstein gossips about Hillary's relationship with Vince Foster in book)
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/book_extracts/article1874664.ece

Foster had comparatively little interest in politics, exuded integrity, was meticulous in habit and dress, was conversant in every nuance of politesse, and spoke ill of almost no one. In the firm he was regarded as the soul of discretion, and it stood to reason that if ever Hillary would choose a confidant outside her marriage it would be someone of his mien and judgment.

Hillary found it easy to let her guard down with him. “I don’t think there was anyone closer to Hillary for 20 years,” said Hubbell. “But I don’t think it was sexual. I think it was, here are two people with like brilliance who enjoyed the same things, enjoyed each other’s company and had extreme confidence in each other. I mean, you love a friend more than you love a lover.”

At office retreats, Hillary and Vince often remained together while the others went off to play golf or tennis. They would stroll, talk earnestly over a glass of wine and laugh uproariously.

Those who knew them best doubted that they had had an affair. One friend wasn’t sure: “He loved Hillary. I hoped they had an affair. I think they both deserved it. They both had complicated spouses, complicated marriages.”

3. If she did have an affair, and frankly from this story it seems unlikely, could anyone blame her.
Bill Clinton cheated on her constantly and casually. If she found comfort in another man, I for one could not fault her.

Unfortunately, this story is one that will never die and all of the dark rumors of adultery and even murder will follow her to her grave.

I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton's politics but I admire her courage for being willing to face the firestorm of gossip and rumor that she will be deluged with if she becomes the Democratic Party's nominee.

9. Genifer Flowers for one. Are you suggesting Bill Clinton is some sort of model husband?
I'm not going to go into every bimbo that Bill's ever gotten in the sack or has been rumored to have gotten into the sack. The fact is that it doesn't matter in the big scheme of things.

He and Hillary have worked things out in their own way. It's not the way I would chose to live but I'm not them. Despite all the strains in their marriage, they've stayed together when most couple would have split up long ago and I admire them for that.

Pretending that there has been no trouble with his behavior, however, is failing to face facts. Bill Clinton is a great man with equally great faults and one of those faults came close to destroying his presidency and helped pave the way for the disastrous presidency of George W. Bush.

23. You used the word "constanly" like you know for a fact it was constant.
And you have no proof of that.

4. I am sick of people who support a lying war monger and bash
people who had affairs.
They make like the love affairs the Clinton's had much worse than the death that the bu$h monster has caused.

Anytime someone mentions Bill and Monica or any of these stories always retort with the line "make love not war"

This is so completely ridiculous.

"I should have known they would come up with something." ... they always do ... but trying to spin THIS negatively ...:puke:

6. Bernstein cheated on his wife while she was in the hospital having his baby
so it's no wonder he suspects everyone else of having extramarital affairs. What part of "Those who knew them best doubted that they had had an affair" can't he understand? What message are we supposed to take away from this...that a woman had better not have even a platonic friendship with a man, for fear of being branded as a "possible" adulteress?

14. The excerpt is about Hillary/Foster only on the surface. Read deeper...
It's all about painting Hillary as someone ill-equipped to be president, talking about her as someone who can begin things but not complete them because she doesn't have what it takes to think things through in advance, nor does she exhibit successful follow-through once she has given an issue her brief attention. It also presents her as someone who will sacrifice even the most important people in her life in the interest of obtaining political cover for herself. I'm not saying I agree with this take on her, but it is what Bernstein is communicating here.

24. Um, noooooooooo....
He's quoting others who talk about her failed universal health care plan, but do so in terms of her inability to take on a project and see it all the way through to success. Again, that's their take on her, not mine -- and reading the excerpt in its entirety makes it clear this is presenting a case for why Hillary isn't up to taking on the top job. Nor, if we are to believe what's written, is she up to maintaining loyalty to her closest friend when her political butt is on the line. It's a hit piece about much more than her non-affair with Foster.

21. Another book about the Clenis
Oh sure, Bernstein tries to make it sound like he's writing about the Clagina.

But like so many of his media buddies, he just can't stop thinking about the Clenis.

That's why this book won't hurt Senator Clinton. In the end, it's really not about her, but him.

I'll give Carl one benefit of the doubt: maybe he's just trying to figure out how to cheat on his wife without the costly divorce.
