TB patient's relative to be investigated

By COLLEEN SLEVIN, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 47 minutes ago

DENVER - A federal microbiologist, the father-in-law of the man quarantined with a drug-resistant form of tuberculosis, will be investigated to see how he was involved in the case, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday.

Meanwhile, the CDC said it has withdrawn the federal isolation order for TB patient Andrew Speaker because a Denver health agency's order to detain him at a hospital there is sufficient to protect the public's health. The action ends the first federal quarantine order since 1963.

Speaker has said he, his doctors and the CDC all knew he had TB that was resistant to some drugs before he flew to Europe for his wedding and honeymoon last month.

Robert Cooksey, whose specialty at the CDC is TB and other bacteria, and who attended his daughter's wedding, has said he provided "fatherly advice" to Speaker about traveling with the illness.

1. What are the odds that Mr. TB guy's future F-I-L would work for the CDC AND with TB bacteria?
IMCPO, the F-I-L had something to do with this...either on purpose or accidentally contaminating the guy.

2. I'm more inclined to believe the F-I-L played a lot of foot-shuffling games
To allow the wedding to take place. After all, they had *money* that had already been spent on this trip. Daddykins probably figured he could stall the CDC so the couple could have their trip, and nobody would lose.

Isn't it the bride's family that usually pays for weddings?

5. I don't believe there was a wedding. IMO, they are just posing. Only evidence I've heard is 1 photo.

How can this woman NOT have TB?

If they were swapping spit etc?

Too many lies and changing stories.

Where are the warnings to TB Guy's co-workers at the law firm?

7. there was NO warnings to a person they'd sold a Condo to either
I watched that supposed interview with GMA -- this guy was lying through his mask, literally.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven. That TB doctor father-in-law should be asked to step down. But he won't.

8. Good questions! The story I heard was there was a mix up in the paper work in Greece and no wedding
Edited on Sun Jun-03-07 11:22 AM by in_cog_ni_to
COULD take place...so they had a 'ceremonial' wedding, not legal,. They would do the LEGAL wedding when they got home. I'd really like to know how the wife doesn't have TB too. That's VERY strange.

12. How can this woman not have TB?
Easy. TB has low infection rate.
Also, most people infected won't develop an active TB.

10. Yes. The bride's family pays for most of the wedding...
that's a thought too. This story is so strange. There's got to be more to it than what we're hearing.

3. How many dead (many under mysterious circumstances) microbiologists in US & UK in recent years?
That is what I keep going back too. What did they know or who did they say 'NO!' to; and about what?

If they wanted someone to do something untoward and that someone was balking, would a bit of serious disease exposure to someone close, but not quite family would nudge them? Would it show how vulnerable a microbiologist's loved ones might be if he doesn't follow orders?

If US attorneys get canned for not participating in attacks against DEM candidates and/or caging, what else is being done to other professionals the junta wants cooperation from for various criminal enterprises?

Microbiologist: No, I won't help you develop/spread/improve that bio-weapon you want to control the masses with!

Jimmy-da-Thug neocon operative: Yous will be singin a different tune when we shows ya how easy it would be to hurt people ya care about... Yous love that pretty daughter of yours, don't ya? I sees she got a young man all picked out. How romantic.... hope nuttin happens to him.... or HER

4. IMO, this was an intentional dry run for something. Like on 9/11 they were also doing a test

14. So its a hoax, or was the TB exposure real
If he was a threat to others, then he was threat to his wife - she should have TB.

Besides, he paid for the Europe trip - I can understand not wanting to lose that money, maybe he couldn't get a refund - or it was his deathbed wish?

They will do surgery on him if he does not respond to any other antibiotics.
As for his wife having TB, she certainly does not have to have it.
The TB infection rate is low.
Just because she was in close contact with him, does not mean she has to have it.
Just like with any infectious disease, some people will get it and some won't, if exposed, and considering TB has a low infection rate, most people around this guy are not expected to get it at all.
