is anyone here aware of any dental charities available in Texas?

My friend's daughter died last week from an untreated tooth abscess.She could not find a dentist who could see a patient who was not insured.she left three children without a mother....but hey-the economy is doing GREAT!

My uncle-in-law died from the same thing several years ago. Until then I didn't even know that a bad tooth could be fatal.

In the meantime, if a tooth abscess is suspected, go to an urgent care and get some antibiotics while you search for dentist who will do the extraction and allow you to pay the bill off as you can afford it or for a dental school that will do it for a much lower rate.

...or take a trip to Mexico. Just over the border, the signs abound: "Dentista," "Pharmacia." Oh, right, the gas would cost as much as a US dentist...

Dental work is too important to skimp on, folks, and anything that is causing you pain needs to be taken care of ASAP. Bacterial infections in the mouth can spread anyplace, and love to spread to the brain and heart. LIE if you have to, and face the consequences later.

Seriously. 200 mcg twice a day for three days cleared up an abcess that was agony. I don't know how it works, it's a freaking miracle drug.

I don't know the rules in Texas, but you can get a tooth extracted in an emergency in New York. Most people don't have dental insurance...something is funny here. The family needs a lawyer.

Its a long shot but why not try.

Cleocin works best but is really strong and causes the shits
Keflex works at a strong enough dose for a long enough time

But this situation should be against the law
Dental abscesses are a life threatening illness
and should be covered

It's startling how well it works. The drawback is that it isn't covered. Vitamin Shoppe has one that's high quality and not pricey. TRY IT.

I also thought I'd have to have all my teeth pulled. I now only take it when I start an infection.

As you mentioned Baylor is about the only option--however, it isn't a quick option. As far as I know, there aren't any free dental clinics except for kids going to Head Start. Sorry for your loss.
OT, I read in your latest LTTE and am sorry for your son's PTSD. It sounds like he is really struggling.:hug:
