8. Ditto
Best option would be to resign and put control into the Dems hands.... it's the only option that has the best interest of the two nations in mind.

I also liked the reply in this topic that said he should check in rehab and take the proper meds for his mental disorders.I would also add that he be kept in custody of some sort (either jail and/or mental institute)

18. Two Words: "PRESIDENT CHENEY"
If Cheney were President, we'd be at war with Iran already.

3. Wait until Dick Cheney was in the garden, then hurl myself on top of him from the White House roof
Two birds with one stone. Let President Fancy-Pants Pelosi try to dig us out of the hole I've dug. It'll ensure Republican victory in 2008. Besides, Cheney wasn't gonna run, and he has a bad ticker.

6. I would have a miraculous attack of conscience and retire -
and take my entire administration with me, since I would then realize that I've been an evil yet incompetent and descructive fool and idiot, that I've ruined the country if not the world, and that I am utterly useless to anyone.

13. How about if I were President of the United States?
I would form a team of military and former military people, career diplomats, career intelligence people and middle eastern people. THe goal would be to engage all parties in Iraq, and the regional neighbors to come up with a solution that would form a foundation upon which a stable resolution can be had. In particular where Iraq and Afghanistan are concerned there must be some way to enable the local people to build and rebuild their infrastructure. KBR and other such firms have to leave and the engineers and scientist of Iraq need to be returned to their former positions. US and other firms can offer support and technological advise but are not to be in charge.

US troops need to be drawn down and former Iraqi army officer corp of the equivalent of Lt. Colonel down need to be encouraged to enlist and take control of the Iraqi forces. Trainingg camps for Iraqi recruits, both army and police need to be off shore. The training units need to be made up of multi-ethnic groups and given discipline and unit cohesiveness. In Iraq and Afghanistan the military needs to be in military housing and not living at home.

It is doubtful whether any of the above will work since Iraq is made up of 3 ethnic groups that now have real enmity to wards one another. The solution would be to install a Saddam type strong man and/or give them an external enemy.

17. That question has two answers. You know that.
If I was pResident G.W. Bush, and I was a rational human being with a soul, I would:

step 1: declare victory in Iraq. We got Saddam, right? Captured him, gave him a fair trial and hanged him from a yardarm. If you capture the enemy's leader, you've won. So we won and we can declare that we did.

step 2: remove KBR, DynCorp, Blackwater and Bechtel from Iraq...right now.

step 3: hire the Russian Army to go down there and develop an Iraqi Army that isn't full of terrorists, like the one we're in the process of creating is.

step 4: finish building US Embassy Baghdad, but once it's done turn it over to the Iraqi government for use as administrative buildings

step 5: remove all our soldiers from Iraq as quickly as we safely can.

If I was the G.W. Bush we actually have, I would escalate. I know a few things here:

a. The Democrats, even if they hire Bob Shrum to run their next campaign, are going to win the 2008 election. When they do, they will be immediately confronted with a number of problems, all of which I created:

i. The war I started will be generating about 300 caskets per month by the time the Democrats take over.
ii. The economy will be in a total shambles.
iii. The world will hold the North Koreans in higher regard than they hold us.
iv. The entire nation will be a retail economy because our wealth-creating industries will all be on the other side of the Pacific Rim.

b. Most of the senators up for reelection in 2008 will be Republicans who were either brought in at the 1996 election or who benefited from it. If the Democrats have a grain of brain in their heads, they will exploit the fact that these Republicans obstructed the Democrats' efforts to thwart me from destroying the country the way I did. Hence, in 2008 we'll have a fairly decent Democratic majority in the Senate. A 60-vote majority is not out of the question there.

c. Democrats will probably also do well in the House in 2008.

d. If we as Republicans wish to control the direction of the country beyond 2010, we have no choice but to make the Democrats' task so painful to the electorate that no one will ever vote for one again.

Therefore...I would do my level best, as a lame-duck president, to fuck this country up so badly that the Democrats will become poison through their actions.

What would I do in Iraq? Easy. I'dsend the 2nd Infantry Division back to Korea just in case Kim Jong Il gets stupid, I'd leave one division in Europe, and I'd send the rest of the army to Iraq--permanently. None of this troop rotation shit, folks; I'd do like they did in The Big One and ship the whole army, plus the reserves, plus all of the National Guard, overseas for the duration.

21. I think your second part there was dead on.
Bush's job right now from a political perspective is to set up as difficult a scenario as possible for the Democratic Party to inherit.

20. Same thing he's doing now. Rely on Karl Rove and Jim Beam for inspiration.
And, repeat the process until it all goes away.
