The Attack Of The Killer Cartoon Characters...
Can we now see that we have become a nation of fools and charlatans?

I'm not going to bust on anybody in Boston, because hindsight is always 20/20, and it's just not for the rest of us to judge, but can we all step back and see how ridiculous this whole situation is?

Can we see what a bunch of sniveling cowards and cry babies we have become as a whole? Can we now see how utterly Pavlovian our response is to the media manipulation and propaganda?

16. "Phil is not a pipe bomb"
This is a true story. A friend of mine was busted for pot. The cops in their eagerness found about a foot long piece of 3-in PVC pipe with end caps in his house. One cop was going on about finding a pipe bomb-obviously this drugee was also a dastardly terrorist. My friend says that's not a pipe bomb, that's Phil. The cops' response was that it looked like a pipe bomb to them. My friend tells them to read the label. It had a name and dates-it was a friend's of his ashes. The cops couldn't put it down and get away fast enough.

4. It is ridiculours and it's also pathetic that DU'ers need to prove how brave THEY are
by ragging on others and in the process totally not get how inappropriate Turner's assinine marketing ploy was.

5. You know, if a person finds themselves a butt of a joke...
they can do a couple of things about it.

They can have a sense of humor and laugh it off.

or they can embarass themselves further.

It seems a lot of people would prefer the latter. People are still trying to pretend this was a legitimate threat. They're going after those to kids, instead of addressing the real problems. You've got this mayor who's trying to turn panic into political hay.

Yes, it's a sad state of affairs.

7. it wasn't a legitimate threat but why is it you are so happy to excuse Turner
and are unable to just say that strapping electronic crap onto city bridges is not appropriate?

For individuals and for corporations?

For any reason?

17. Status: False.
http://www.snopes.com/love/dating/frozen.asp

Even with all these improbabilities, the story still falls within the realm of possibility . . . except for two telling details. Had it been cold enough to flash-freeze the young lady's buns to the car, it would also have been cold enough to send her yipping away from the vehicle the very moment her naked butt touched the metal. Whatever she would have wanted to do wouldn't have mattered — instinct would have taken over, propelling her away from the car, in much the same way that someone who has just touched a hot object instinctively yanks his hand away.

18. I'm still just trying to figure out...
...Why would anyone think blinking lights indicates a bomb? Why would anything that has blinking lights make it more likely to be a bomb? A bomb is less likely to have blinking lights. Would the bomb squad had used a water canon to take down a cardboard sign? Of course not. So, WFT? People just need to stay focused on important things that matter.

and we see what damage our own paranoia and ignorance does to us. The power of propaganda is very strong.

Edited on Thu Feb-01-07 07:17 PM by WindRavenX
It truly is an example of just how paranoid and dumb this nation has become.
