Poll question: If you were Gores Friend, would you want him to run?
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 10:45 AM by bryant69
I mean if you were sitting down and watching TV and eating nachos or something, and Gore looks over at you and says "Do you think I ought to run?" What would you, as a friend, say?

1. The grass always seems greener, doesn't it?
As a friend, I would tell Gore not to run.

2. He should consider it.
The country is so messed up now, though, that if he didn't want to, I wouldn't blame him.

6. not candidates
did any of them stop the war in iraq? How many voted for war in iraq? How many still follow bush? I want a real candidate. Gore has push for the environment since he was in the senate, wrote a great book then. The people did not listen and are not listening now. The candidates and congress critters are not for the people - only for themselves

7. Has Gore stopped the war in Iraq?
For that matter has Dennis Kucinch?

Did Obama vote for the Iraq War Resolution?

Do any of them still follow Bush? Lieberman's not in it this time, recall.

to tear the living shit out of every idiot and every member of the media, wrap 'em up, and mail them back to their mamas. Postage fucking due.

5. I wouldn't if I were you...
I think you are doing great work now and can continue to do so without the trappings of this corrupted office that will not be any better in a year's time, and at this stage in your life after all you have been through a man's conscience and soul are his most prized possessions. But don't close the door on anything for the rest of your life, because no matter what some may say regarding you being a "has been" if you don't do this right now because they only care about their own selfish wishes, you have many good years ahead of you. But right now, I think you can do most good for this planet by being a leader who mobilizes people to action to effect the changes we need to take back what we allowed to be lost, and I am so proud that you are still out here caring about people and this country and I stand with you.

That's what I would say.

9. We Need Gore!
How are any of the others going to get their message out?

Gore already has, and has the means to go around the media.
Other Democrats need to learn from this. Unfortunately, there
isn't time for any other Democrat to do it before the election.

WE GOTTA HAVE GORE!

11. This isn't going to be easy to say...
But I admire this man so much. I count very few heroes. He is one.

I just read the letters to the editor section of the newest Time magazine. It's really horrifying to think there are so many people out there who think such bad thoughts about former Vice President Gore. I admire him so much and respect the work he's done recently, and how it has brought him satisfaction and a measure of the support for his cause...that I have to say I don't wish that meatgrinder they call the political arena to be used on him again. I wish him a long, peaceful, happy, life with the love of his family and many friends around him.

15. I agree as well
I would vote for him in a heartbeat. Every possible resource my husband and I could offer to his campaign would be there. At the same time, it is more than difficult for me to ask him to go through it again.

I'm sure that nobody outside of Al Gore's immediate family has any idea what 2000 took out of them. Even running for a minor office is hell; I can't even comprehend what it would be like to see attacks in the national press on a daily basis. I suppose we all have to wonder what the point is as well when the vast numbers of Americans prefer voting for someone they "want to have a beer with" rather than voting for someone who's actually going to do some good for the country.

IMHO, YMMV.

17. Run with Kucinich as his VP, then resign.
Oh, well. Dream big.

Actually, I'd like to see him run, but if I was his pal I'd say he has rocks in his head if he did so.
