Graham Hyperventilates On Senate Floor, Attacks Obama For ‘Giving In To Heresy’

The Senate immigration reform proposal introduces a dramatic change to the legal immigration system by eliminating visa categories that allow U.S. citizens to petition for their families to reunite with them on American soil. The immigration bill instead creates a points system for visa distribution that prioritizes work skills over family connections.

Last night during the Senate floor debate on immigration, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) introduced an amendment that called for sunsetting this points system method after 5 years to reevaluate its efficacy. The mild amendment provoked a furious outrage from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

Graham took to the floor after Obama spoke, and began gesticulating wildly and screaming in anger. “This is why we can’t work together,” Graham said. “Some people on the left and right consider heresy, and we’re giving in if we pass this amendment.” Shaking the amendment in his hand, Graham added, “This amendment says that bipartisanship doesn’t have the ‘bi’ in it. .. You’re gonna destroy this deal.” Watch it:

Reacting to Graham’s hyperventilation on the Senate floor, Obama said, “It’s a matter of too much coffee and people being on the floor too long.” It also reflects the fact that right-wing opposition to the bill is cracking the conservative base.

"It's a matter of too much coffee....."

Guess who's looking like quite the idiot.....not Obama.

(In the House of Representatives, in Boehner's case, it's a matter of too much alcohol! :)

6. Oh, gosh, that's amusing.
I feel bad for the poor C-SPAN2 camera operator... how was that person to know that Graham was going to burn off the calories he had for lunch/dinner by dancing around on the senate floor.

8. It Really Was Interesting
I was watching at the time and you're so right. I was thinking how is the cameraman following all this. What a total embarrassment Graham is.

9. I wonder if the cameraman was actually paying attention before it happened.
If not, after a long day- mad props to them for getting their wits together and managing to attempt to follow Graham's "Dance Dance Revolution" routine!

Almost immediately, the two men continued the argument in a hall just outside the chamber. "They were going at it," said Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla. "We could hear them inside."

11. What a stupid thing for Graham to throw a temper tantrum over
Obama's amendment makes sense. Why wouldn't we want to reevaluate the point system for efficacy five years from now? To spit nails and scream in anger over something so tame is just silly. Does Graham really give a sh*t or is he just stirring up drama in an attempt to cause trouble for a Presidential candidate?

I'm probably giving the guy too much credit. Graham is an idiot.

15. No sense, unless he's trying to score a Democratic candidate
"Score" as in "hurt" or "injure," that is. Not that there would be anything wrong with Mr. Graham trying to score with anyone he wants. Provided the other party was an adult and consenting, of course.

19. More like Greenly's return
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 07:53 PM by FreeState
More like Greenly's return - assuming you watch AMC - she's just like everyone on the right - crying that their lives were ruined because *gasp* people moved on without her - like monkey faced Ryan wants to be married to her, come on even Kendle looks sane next to her. (if you don't watch it sorry LOL)
